Wolf back in play?
« on: December 18, 2008, 12:15:11 pm »
ESPN Rumor Central is speculating that the Arn Tellem's Wasserman Agency, representing Furcal and Wolf, may have burned Wolf's opportunity with the Brave given the agent's behavior in the Furcal bidding.

Here's a nice quote:

When WIFN talk show host Bill Shanks prefaced a question by saying that he knew Wren couldn't burn bridges with Kinzer and Tellem, Wren interjected, "That bridge is gone. I don't have to worry about burning it. The bridge is gone."

That's an ugly situation.

I bet Wolf ends up with a West Coast team though, maybe the Dodgers again.

They're sending the Wolf?

Shit, that's all you had to say.

One things is becoming evident for all of the MLB, Wren is no push over and will carry on the reputation of his former boss Schurholtz (sp?) that the Braves will not be taken in any sort of baseball deal.  Kevin Towers learned this the hard way.

This is getting even more melodramatic:

So in response to Wren and Schuerholtz proclaiming they deserve better, Tellem is dropping not so subtle hints that any refusal to deal with them or their agency may be a violation of the CBA and the NLRA, while simultaneously calling them "Ya buncha babies".

"We hope that once emotions have subsided, the Braves will act in a manner consistent with not only their obligations under the collective bargaining agreement and the National Labor Relations Act, but also the best interests of the franchise," Tellem said. "In short, we would not want this incident to color their better judgment."

Yeah, because Wren and John freaking Schuerholtz don't know how to conduct themselves in negotiations.

Man, I hate defending the Braves, but we're not talking about a GM that just fell off the turnip truck.  Wren and especially Schuerholtz know the rules of the game.  If they're complaining this loudly to the press, the Wassermans must have done something quite sleazy.
