Wiggy looks funny as a leadoff hitter

Ball high, curve for a called strike, curve fouled back, grounded to third, scooped up by the rook, and he air mails it over the firstbaseman for an E-5. Wiggy remains at first.

Was gonna say the same thing.  I can't pick anyone from that lineup who would be a better fit, though.

Benjie Molina watches a strike, then gets plunked for the third consecutive night.

Fred Lewis takes a strike, takes another for a ball (cloooose), fouls the next offering back, lines another FB foul, and watches a waist high outside FB for strike three. 1 out.

Rich Aurilia takes a ball low, watches a FB on the outside black for a strike, missed badly on a slow curve, fouled a FB to the right side, and hesitates on a slow curve that drops in the backdoor. 2 down.

Emmanuel Burriss takes a strike, ball, slow curve tapped weakly to short, Miggy grabs and flip to Loretta. Molina wasn't even in the picture, now THATS slow. Side retired.

Pence takes a curve for a strike, pops the next pitch to shallow right center, 2 down.

Abercrombie takes a strike, misses a FB at the letters, and misses another in the same spot. Side retired.

A whopping 7 pitches from Zito.

Aflac trivia answer: Rich Aurilia had 206 hits in 2001. Stumped me.

Miggy fouls one back, check swing strike, check swing called a strike, 1 down.

Twinkie watches a ball, slow curve misses outside, FB on the outside corner for a strike (not), another (closer) for a strike, Zito tries the same spot again but misses, slow inside curve slammed to left but bends around the fowl pole, full count. Lined to left for a solid single.

Blum take a ball, misses a slow curve, next pitch is lined hard to left that backs up Lewis a few steps, 2 down.

Pence takes a strike, flails wildly at a FB right down the pipe (flying open big time), takes a ball, takes another FB low, FB fouled off to the right side, low curve is hit to center, side retired.

Wiggy popped foul, roller up the middle, scooped by Omar, spins around and fires...safe! Wiggy was busting it down the line earning that infield single.

Loretta takes a ball, takes another, and another, and a forth for a walk, Wiggy to second.

Miggy steps in. Pickoff attempt at first not close, FB sails high, FB swing and a miss right down Broadway, swings at a low FB and pops it to shallow center, three fielders converge but it drop in for a single, bases juiced.

Berkman has them worried. Ball, FB just misses inside, FB high, FB down the pipe taken for a strike, FB low walks in the tying run!

Blum takes a strike, ball, change misses outside, change is hit, a high fly to medium left, Loretta tags and scores the go ahead run as the throw goes wide, trailing runners advance, 1 down.

Pence intentionally walked to load'em up again.

Abercrombie knocks a fly to center, Miggy tags and scores! 3-1 Astros, 2 down.

Q hits a foul, strike, then gets hit on the foot. Bases juiced again.

Wolf ball, ball, strike, ball high, strike, liner just foul down the LF line (brother Jim called it foul, bastard! but the correct call), ball four walks in another!

Zito is toast, new blood coming in, secondbaseman Velez hitting in the nine hole comes in on the double switch, new hurler Billy Sadler (RHP) is in the 7 hole.

Wiggy (who took Sadler deep Monday night) steps in with the bases loaded. FB low for a strike, FB drifts inside and plunks him. 5-1 Astros.

Loretta ball, strike, strike, curve doesn't break causing another bases loaded plunk! 6-1 Astros.

Tejada takes a ball, FB high to right near the line, side retired.

Okay, I'm done. You have a 6-1 lead OSF!

Thanks mihoba + prav + OSF.  I have two TVs on and am just sitting down to start watching.  I thought I had the front TV delayed and saw the same play twice.  Plus three walks.  Damn.

Velez: grounds the 3-2 pitch up the middle, Loretta backhand it and throws to Berkman for the out (b, b, cs, b, fb, bip).  2 outs, none on.

Winn: the 1-1 pitch off the left field wall (4/5ths the way up), takes a hard bounce off the wall and Wigginton has to chase it for a bit (cs, b, bip).  2 outs, runner on 2B.

Rohlinger: takes the 0-2 pitch by the bag down the right field line for a double, Winn scores (cs, cs, bip- 1st MLB hit and RBI for Rohlinger).  SF 2, HOU 6.  2 outs, runner on 2B.

Rowand: takes the 1-0 pitch to deep center field, Abercrombie catches it at the bottom of Tal's hill.  3 outs.

Spaz (0-2, IBB): chopper to 3B on a 1-2 pitch, Keppinger tries to shorthop it but can't make the play (E-5).  2 outs, Spaz on 1B.

Abercrombie: strikes out swinging at high heat on the 1-2 pitch (called strike, foul ball, ball-fastball outside, throw over, foul ball- tried to take someone out in the Astros dugout, fb- high fastball, throw over, swinging strike - high heat).  3 outs.

Molina: ball - fastball up (1-0), bip - tapper to 3B, Blum makes it look easy to Berkman for the out (can't hurt that Benji is slower out of the box than David Wells).  1 out, none on.

Lewis: called strike - outside corner on the knees (0-1), foul ball (0-2), ball- fastball high (1-2), ball- fastball high (2-2), foul ball (2-2), ball (3-2), foul ball (3-2), foul ball (3-2), bip - popup to shallow left towards the line, Tejada overruns it but makes the play for the out.  2 outs, none on.

Aurilia: ball (1-0), foul (1-1), ball-bender up and in (2-0), fouled away (2-2), bip - flies out to Spaz.  3 outs.

Bottom 8: Gino Espinelli (from Katy-Taylor high school) on the mound.  LHP throwing with a 3/4(?) arm slot stepping well towards 1B (JD: probably looks like he's pitching from 1B to lefties)

Quintero: hard grounder through the middle into center past Espinelli who puts a little glove on it but can't make the play.  None out, runner at 1B. (7 pitch AB, fouled off 2, 2 strike pitches).

Bourn (PH for Geary): flied out to deep-ish right field on the 3-2 pitch.  1 out, runner at 1B. 

Wigginton: first pitch bouncer up the middle that finds a hole (JD: took a tip from Q, a 'Q-tip'), Q to 2B.  1 out, runners at 1B and 2B. 

Loretta: grounder to Vizquel for the 6-4-3 DP.  3 outs.

End 8: SF 2, HOU 6

JD saying the Astros will get Webb, Johnson and CC in a span of 3 of 4 days.

I kinda feel bad cause he's missing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play in the Olympics.  I don't feel bad that he made last nights game more enjoyable.

All in all, I'd rather get shelled in Houston than shangheid by Koreans in China.  You pretty much know that the post game spread is on the up and up.
