Astros GM Ed Wade certainly has the ability to surprise. And confound. His trade for Randy Wolf seems to suggest he thinks his team is a contender. Perhaps someone should next offer Wade a clue.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Every single national media comment on the trade has completely ignored the reality of who Wade's boss is.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Writers never consider the circumstances.  It's much easier to just call the gm an idiot.  It's not possible that he made the move to appease his owner while doing no damage to the farm system and giving himself a few more options for this year or next.  That's much too logical.  Clearly the reason is that he stupidly believes the Astros can still make the playoffs.

Crazy Joe McCluskey was fucking nuts.  It's why they called him Crazy Joe.

I agree, the trade in itself wasn't a big deal, and doesn't support the criticism being leveled.   After the deadline passes, assuming no trades are made to rebuild, would be the proper time for such criticisms.
