Official Thread of Official Things of OWA
« on: November 28, 2007, 12:39:04 pm »
Maybe this is something that can be added to the glossary, but just of the top of my head:

Official Beer - Shiner Bock
Official Band - The Clash
Official Play - Henry V
Official Bar (Houston) - Roeder's
Official Bar (Austin) - The Tavern

Others?
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Did we ever decide on Official Song or did that degenerate into infighting and pompous snobbery?  I still like "Road to Nowhere" by Talking Heads.

I would nominate official idiot, but there's too many candidates.

There are many, but only one that comes through time and again, good old reliable, Pinwheel.  Just today, he was able to type these words,

"Kaz Matsui has agreed to a three-year, $14-million deal with the Cubs, according to a Denver radio station. I don't know if the report is true,..."

Then why start the thing with "has agreed"?  Most of his readers think the deal is done.   He's a world class idiot.  Maybe too much idiot for OWA to contain.

But there are so, so many more...

Well, trolling, anyway.  Florence Henderson and Wesson Oil are inseperable, in my mind.  That is probably too revealing a thing to admit publicly, but I already fucked up my reputation (such as it was/is) for good with the whole cousin thing.

Just so you all know, I've been working on putting this together for some time.  It'll be ready sometime before Spring Training.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I'm no expert on dismissive... oh right, I've met me.  WFW always cheers me up.  It's a full bodied, but compact and astringent phrase.  I rate it a 95.
Nice use of the word "astringent".  I felt the pores on my face pucker up as I read it.

Bingo.  Double espresso it is.

Of course, we could go for the ironic spelling of expresso, but then we'd get flooded with corrections from people not realising that it is a mute point.
