Recaps where the Astros, and Wade specifically, stand at the close of GM meetings.

Highlights:
  • Speculates that Anderson could become a part of a Dontrelle Willis deal.  Multiple sources confirm the Astros have contacted Florida re: Willis
  • Astros have contacted agent for Jeremy Affeldt in addition to Cordero, Linebrink, Glavine, Leiter.
  • Wade scouted Costanzo while working for the Padres
  • Wade on Costanzo: "if we get Costanzo, who's a better left-handed power bat in [Houston's Minor League] organization?' " Wade said. "The answer is nobody."
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

That and Wade drafted Costanzo in 05.
Goin' for a bus ride.

Right, but I had actually forgotten his scouting role until that reminder.

Oh yeah, I knew about Affeldt and was going to share it today, but all this Lidge/Bourn talk derailed me from it.  BTW - when you saunter into the black hole that is chron blogs, and *other* internet offerings, it's interesting how it is all about being negative just for the sake of being... well... negative.  Each and every know-it-all fan has very sharp opinions about how bad this trade was, most of it based on stats and thus how much they now *hate* Ed Wade.

When will someone wise up and realize that giving a platform to such unwashed is really a bad idea.  Or at least put a sign up in the portal to these blog entries that says "Please, do not feed these animals and keep your hands away from the cage... they do bite!".

Bunch of monkeys!

I think calling them monkeys is giving them too much credit and a disservice to monkeys everywhere in the world.
Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.

I don't know, monkey's are famous for throwing their own poo on anyone who gets too close... maybe that is a good analogy.

Interesting article...especially reading that the CL roll seems to be at the bottom of the list.  I look forward to the results of this trade, I think we got more than I was expecting we would get out of Lidge and EB.  The fact that Wade is shopping for 2b was something I didn't know was on the radar.
