Smartest Players in MLB
« on: September 20, 2007, 11:19:19 am »
From a Sports Illustrated poll of over 450 MLB players:

And yup, Mr. Ausmus cracks the top five. Also the second-highest active player on the list, behind Maddux.

Ausmus made the top five -- not that the writer noticed:

FAST FACTS: Only two other players cracked the top 10: Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter (seventh, 3.1%) and Mets pitcher Tom Glavine (10th, 1.8%)....
(I assume he means "other" that Maddux, who won.)

No - the magazine lists only the top 5, which is why the caption (which runs in the mag) refers to the "two other players".
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.
