In the 5th, Heavy D with a solo, 5-2 Cubs

Astros no answer, despite two more runners on. Sigh.

Woody pitches out of a 1st and 3rd, one out jam in the 5th by getting Soriano to strike out and getting rookie cub to pop out.

I don't care who's in what place, let's stomp these phony-fan loveable fucks back to chicago.  right here.

Loretta goes down looking at a 1-2 90mph fastball middle out.  swung right through an 80 mph changeup in a similar spot two pitches before.

rally over.

cody ransom bouncer, 4-3 double play.  jd getting on luke scott going into commercial about allowing himself to be tagged out, for thinking he could out-run the play.

woody williams still pitching, and cliff floyd destoys his first pich over the right field gate.

errormiss fly out to pence

heavy d with a one out looper in front of pence.  jd making excuses for hunter, saying that a feeble pop-up on a big swing like that is hard to read initially.

kendall hard liner right to lee standing about ten feet in front of the crawfords.

woody throwing all manner of junk at jacque jones, who fouls off most of it, including a couple of mid-80's fatballs down the heart of the plate, finally pops out on a high-inside fastball.

woody still pitching.  he sure is a sight to see.

He's fun to watch right now when there's not really anything to lose. But if it were the Astros fighting for a playoff spot instead of the Cubs, I'd be overdosing on Maalox.

wow!  i'm sure this has been brought up previously, but kerry wood looks like the lanky, bow-legged kid from my high-school p.e. class who ran laps in his wranglers and justin ropers because he never brought his p.e. clothes.  how did he get so skinny?

He's lost a lot of weight. I wonder if somebody convinced him that part of the reason he was breaking down was because he was carrying too much weight.  Whatever the deal, he's looking good now.

trever miller in the game.  remember when everybody used to bitch about him and blame him for everything?

camera shows long, scraggly-haired metal head dude with long, scraggly beard and what looks like a UFC t-shirt.  brownie had said something about motley crue earlier, and speculated that the guy in the crowd is the drummer.  the guy looks a lot more like the guitarist.

meanwhile, mike lamb fielding error on a two-hopper to third.  matt murton strikes out, double play ends the inning.

i thought it was that psychotic slurve he used to throw that caused his injuries.  i imagine he didn't work out that much during his long rehabs also.
