I don't listen anymore but I remember Dukes' voice as an obsequious whine.

His partner Davies was just as awful.  It was entirely un-listenable.  The worse part about Carl Dukes was his complete lack of knowledge about the game of baseball, however it never, never, never kept him from giving his opinion  on the game, the Astros and the players.  Most if not all the time, it was so off base it wasn't even funny.

Carl Dukes?  Gone?

You know, when I was a child, I was taught that all adults knew what they were doing, at all times.

I think I was fifteen when I began to realize that it was a convenient lie foisted upon me by my parents.

I like to think that Carl Dukes helped to shatter this illusion for today's generation of young people (who are in the know™).

Not only did he know very little about baseball, but like JDJO he really harped on race, trying to make it an issue when it clearly wasn't the case.
The test of a true champion is how he reacts to adversity on days when it is bound to come.
