I was watching You've Got Mail instead of the pre-game show.

and I don't care if he does whine, he's hitting .210 or so now.

still love you Brad.

I did hear bill say that Berkman didn't really want to play because he doesn't do well against Glavine.  I hope I misunderstood that.  If I didn't Berkman needs to get slapped.

doesn't facing the pitcher help you improve against that pitcher?  I can't imagine Bagwell saying he would prefer not to face a pitcher.  how does that help you get your swing back?  How does that help your team?

I don't really care too much about what Lance said. It was Gar's choice not to start Lance, and it wasn't without considering statistical performance.

Here's the deal, Lance's attitude is a put on. He has no say in the matter, he is being coy. Lance being Lance.

You aren't understanding my issue with Lance.  I understand that Garner makes the decision who to play, but Lance can say that he would have liked the chance to hit Glavine instead of what he did.

I think all sports programming should have an alternate audio track available where you just get the sounds of the sport with no commentary, music, sound effects or other bullshit.  I know it will never happen, but that's my dream.

not necessarily. playing might get you an 0-4 and hurt the team.

must be a boring day/game if the #1 topic is the relative merits of color men on the broadcast.

No way, I'm rooting for Burke. Go Chris!

ETA: The steM need a secondbaseman, right? They have Heilman, right?

Yes another home run would be great!  But I'll take e6.

.869 OPS for Oswalt against the Mets.  Wow.

Is that better Jim?

So here's your armchair GM question of the day: Suppose that Ensberg starts to hit the ball and finishes the season looking strong. Is it a tease, or a turnaround? Do you count on him as next year's 3B?

Morgan has made me so mad at times in the past two years, that i'd want him gone.  i definitely wouldn't want to give him more money.  but he'd get a raise.

Carlos Beltran just opened the fourth with a fly to right after being booed. He was only here as a rental. There was no loyalty, and the Astros weren’t going to beat the Mets with the wallet.

Really hard to explain why they aren’t over it yet. Not like the treatment Roger Clemens and Wade Boggs got when they returned to Boston.

He is.  He also plays a good 2B.  If Burke is traded, I wouldn't mind seeing Bruntlett get a chance to win the 2B job.  If not that, I'd at least like to see him stay with the team next year and get a decent amount of playing time as a utility man.

What makes you think Burke would be traded?  I'd love Bruntlett to stay on the team.  He's another Loretta.

I doubt he would be a regular. I hope Loretta is re-signed for the full-time 2B job.

I was surprised too, because Reyes is so fast. But based on where the throw wound up, I think he would have been out if he had tried. Two good throws on consecutive days may be enough to slow runners down a little bit.

funny last night I was talking about that game against the Pirates where Gallo allowed a run to score on a wild pitch when tossing an IBB

And that is exactly why I have a problem with Little League allowing you to just send the guy to 1st.  You never know what is going to happen.

Radio and TV guys both have commented on how the attendance has been good this homestand.  DUH.  Everyone bought the Biggio Ticket Plans.

Good game for the Good Guys!  I love winning before the "BREAK".

And I love to boo Beltran, because he is a woosie and his agent is unavailable.

Astros win.

Nice going into the break, a split with the Mets. Almost a 3 out of 4.

The one I can't stand the most is Van Earl Wright. His voice is so irritating.  I lived in the same apartment complex as he did when I was in college.  My roommate and I often went swimming late at night until we kept catching him skinnydipping with his various girls in the pool.  Yuck.

I know, probably because they had already PAID for the tickets.  I'm guessing alot of them were families.  If Biggio did not have that milestone march, I wonder how many would have bought tickets in the first place.

renner is a complete idiot.  he should be on espn.

maybe things are starting to turn around.

They have certainly looked like a more viable team over the last couple of weeks. They're too far behind to imagine sniffing the playoffs this year, but I think they'll play good ball and make life tough for the teams in front of them.

I almost bought that Biggio package.  I still ended up going to 7 games in 9 days.  I'm ready for the break.  But, there were still a lot of people at the games.  I think the fact that they've won a couple of the series helped them come regardless of Biggio hitting the milestone.

The fact that Biggio has been very hot at the plate since hitting #3000 probably helped too.

No shit.  Why is it so hard to understand why a lot of Astros fans hate the guy?

hate Boras, not Beltran. by all accounts, Beltran is a good guy.

i disagree.  People hire their agents and are responsible for how business is conducted on their behalf.  And taking a shot at Houston on the way out of town with this bullshit about how they didn't love him enough was gratuitous.

you are naive if you think players tell agents what to do.
