Yeah, just need to take two out three and outscore 'em by a total of 12 runs and that rhinestone eyesore stays in Houston.

He can and he will as long as Phil keeps troting him out there.  I must have been high when i read that Brunt had been called up because i sure as hell havn't seen him play much.

Did Berkman just run out a grounder for a single?

ETA: He made it to first on an error, but still....he ran it out hard?

I don't know how hard he was running but he was there a step behind Millwood who bobbled the ball slightly.

This game is going to end at roughly the same time as the west coast games did.

I did not see Woody getting out of that inning. Wow.

Woody simply does not have his location today. Almost painful to watch him repeatedly go 2-0 on hitters.

So, Woody gets one.

Walks the bases loaded.

Popup to Brad.

Grounder to Burke.

No runs scored.

I would not have bet on that outcome.

Oh, he hopped!  On one that cleared Hobbs' glove by about 1/2 an inch (or the length of Sammy's roid-challenged penis).

Why does Garner refuse to play Bruntlett at short? It's as if he wants to demonstrate clearly that he has no use for Bruntlett and that his being on the team is not his doing and not welcome.

I might be reading too much into it, but I do wonder what he's thinking.

I was writing about this club being poorly staffed a while back.  When Everett wnet down, they lost one of the few defensive bright spots.  They now suck balls at 20 of the 25 roster spots.

Between these two clowns this is about the worst pitching I have seen from the Astros over the course of a single game since a 21-1 pounding against the Mets in 1999 or so.

Yes, and tonight with Bidge DHing, he probably should've played Loretta at 2B and Bruntlett at SS.  Although Gar and Purp do have a great big mancrush on Burke.  But at home it will be harder for him to get Loretta and Lamb in the lineup at the same time (without playing Loretta at SS) since Bidge will be playing 2B.  It will be interesting to see what happens after #3000.

The Biggio at second while Loretta DH'ed the other day was pretty special. It was the first time that I've thought that Garner is losing his fucking mind.

It just pisses me off to watch a pitcher come in with a 1 run deficit and walk the first batter he faces, a lefty in this case for Randolph. Then, Garner leaves him in despite having NOTHING and now it's 10-3.

Complete bullshit. Moehler is the long relief/spot starter. It was the 5th inning. And the final nail in the coffin, he has done a similar stunt several times this year.

I don't know.  But I do know Garner told him when he was sent to RR out of spring training that he wanted him to work on his command and hold down the walks.

the "talking out my arse" thing was meant to indicate a joke....but I figured you knew that.

I don't know anything about Randolph; I've never seen him pitch, just heard some promising things about what he has done recently. I agree: hate seeing the walk there, and I always hate seeing a pitcher left in for abuse. I can't comment too much on that, though, because many times I get riled only to hear a good explaination a day later. It was mentioned by some who have seen Randolph pitch that he isn't a lefty specialist, so maybe Phil was looking for someone to eat 1-2 innings while it was still close. Maybe he knows something about an upcoming starter that I don't and he wants to save Moehler for that spot start.

You are right, it wasn't mopup with 5 innings left in a close game. That was supposed to be the joke of my post.

I suspect we're going to be seeing some poor LF defense for many years to come.  When AE comes back, Gar needs to tell Lee to keep his fat ass away from AE.

You forgot the line out to 3rd

According to the super accurate gameday pitch locator....it looked like he got tired of waiting to strike out and went to his backup plan which has been working well for him lately.

I helped tutor the liquor store owner's kid, so I got some special order.

While I was as my son's game, my aunt called to tell me that Pence got robbed of a homerun.  Can someone confirm and describe?  Thanks.

He hit an opposite field shot. Byrd got turned around but made the grab on the track and then hit the wall. It wasn't a home run.

I just came back from a week of visiting family in BFE Southern Illinois.  In six days the family wiped out the entire town's supply of Modelo, Shiner and Dos Equis.  No way do they get Shiner '98 up there.

Did they show her on the Houston broadcast?  I haven't seen her lately, but Conor looks more like his dad every day, except with brown eyes instead of blue.  Shame that.

Whelp....I got to give up.

I have 1...ONE....Shiner 98 for tomorrow when my mother-in-law is supposed to arrive, which is right about the time the Astros game comes on TV, which only happens at my house when Fox carries the rare Saturday afternoon game.

I hope she gets here early so I have enough time to become unbearable enough to disappear to my room in time for first pitch.

I'm going to ice down the Shiner under the bed in the morning.

I'm coming to Houston next week for 3000.  Maybe I can pick some  '98 up if I can get a refrigerator in my hotel room.  I'm also going to Milwaukee, but I don't hold out much hope for anything non-Miller there.

Actually, you can find quite a few good pubs in H-town that serve some pretty good shit, unfortunately i can't remember which pubs or what shit because it was really good.  However, i'm sure some of our posters will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.

If necessary, I suppose I could fill up the sink with ice.  Reminds me of spring break at South Padre.

I recommend the Mexican food. If you're not bothered by metal detectors when entering restaurants I suggest any taqueria around National and 6th or so after the game.

homer didn't kick him hard enough.

What you've got to do is cut the hamstring on the back of his leg...

Ensberg was limping when he came out to warm up the pitcher one inning while Ausmus put his gear on. When he came out to play third he was limping again. Then he booted the ball.

When he came up to bat it wasn't as noticeable, but he didn't have to run. As usual.

Also, 'Pence's Posse' was seated a few rows closer to the field in my section. A bunch of adolescents wearing black t-shirts with #9 on the back. They would cheer wildly anytime Pence came close or was anywhere near the ball. Somewhat entertaining.
