No news here at all: Pinwheel ignorant

Speaking of bad moves, why was Adam Everett so far out in left field anyway?

From his blog.  No, I won't link to it.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Damn it MusicMan....you almost cost me....I read your post and promptly started throwing every item on my desk against the wall, and did so in as violent a fashion as possible.  Luckily I stopped short of playing discus with my laptop.

No more Dick Justice posts...please, they can be harmful to one's health.

OK, I swear I posted the answer to this recently.  I can not find it again.  Am I dreaming?

Thanks, yeah, I may have hallucinated Everett actually spelling it out.  But I did hear Lee say today that he's been having to play further back and we've commented previously on how we've noticed Everett going out further into left.

I am new around here as a poster (I have lurked on this site and it's predecessor for years).  Justice is such a dipshit.  I seriously think I could do a better job than Justice and the rest of the retards at the Chronical.

This is just so incredibly stupid.  Dick needs to read the entire "from the dugout" posts end-to-end:  http://www.orangewhoopass.com/forums/index.php?topic=237.msg0#new

Relevant section:

Fly Ball Rules

The outfielder must catch every ball he can reach coming toward the infield.  An infielder is never to call off an outfielder, and the outfielder must call for the ball as soon as he sees he can catch it.  The infielder should go into the outfield intending to catch the ball until the outfielder calls for it and the infielder has to immediately get out of the way when the outfielder calls for the ball.  Not following this rule sometimes results in spectacular collisions, serious injuries and dropped fly balls.  The outfielder's call always controls, even if the infielder already has called for the ball.

Dipshit, yes.  But, unless you have some training and education as a journalist, it's unlikely you could do a better job.  It's like Ausmus' lawnmower repairman comment.  The problem is that he is not interested in being a journalist, he wants to be a commentator.  His problem is that his comments are wrong, change when convienent, and are self serving.  Also, they are based on no special knowledge.  We know the information that he knows.  So in that regard, as a commentator on the Astros using freely available sources, perhaps you could do a better job.

thanks for the plug.

in '96, i lost my CF for several weeks and my SS for a couple of games because the OF made no call or a very late call on a pop in no man's land between them. the collision was spectacular, and the injury to the CF's knee was fairly serious. i looked at them laying on the ground and said to the umpire: "there goes my season."

anone who asks why AE was that far out in LF should be barred from attending any future games. it is incredibly stupid.

No problem.  Dick Justice hasn't attended an Astros game in years.

wow

That is a 100% true story. That collision was horrific looking and sounding.

Our CF that year had an OBP around .800 too.

the SS launched himself into a dive for the ball, and his head rammed the CF's knee just as he planted his foot to make a basket catch. injuries were a concussion and hyperextended knee, respectively, and the collision cost us the game and two of my best players for a time. both were fine eventually, but a loud call by the CF when he saw he could get it would have avoided the injuries and won a 2-1 game. the SS absolutely did the right thing b/c he heard no OF call.
