Fact or Opinion?

According to Ben DuBose, the American League is superior

The bad news, though, is that at 5-4 with a 3.60 ERA in the superior American League, Joe Blanton is still really good and a critical part of the outstanding A's rotation

I usually don't post new topics, and it's probably in the Cabrera category, but I hadn't seen anyone comment on this, and I thought it was strange coming from the Astros' site.

As long as they got the DH they won't be "superior" at playing baseball.

Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I know that's what he was referring to, but "the superior American League" was a poor choice of words. That leaves it open to much more than just runs scored. It sounds like more of a mentality than anything.

Why oh why didn't anyone hit a liner to left last night?!!!

Jack Cust getting replaced for defensive purposes by Jason Kendall is hillarious.  From really horrid to just bad.  But an upgrade nonetheless.

I'm not sure it was because Geren preferred Kendall's outfield defense to Cust's.  A's beat writer Susan Slusser described the switch this way:

Quote
Kendall wound up in left because Shannon Stewart was out with a sore right foot and Travis Buck had a jammed right thumb. Geren described Buck as "available'' before Tuesday's game, but that was only for pinch running or strictly defensive purposes. Buck said he could throw but had trouble gripping a bat. Geren already had used emergency outfielder Marco Scutaro to pinch hit; he couldn't use Suzuki (the last available hitter on the bench) without keeping him in the game or the A's would have risked being without a catcher in the event of an injury to Kendall. Kendall played 27 games in the outfield for the Pirates in 2001.

You know what... ANYONE with two eyes would prefer Kendall to Cust in left field.  They upgraded, trust me.

Outfielder Shannon Stewart came out of Sunday's game at San Francisco with pain in the plantar fascia of his right foot and he remained unavailable Tuesday.

I think his point is that the American League is tougher on pitchers.  It probably is, in general, as they play with 10 players a side instead of 9.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.
