Last Night

The game was a real bummer but only counts for one loss in the grand scheme of things. Woody looked so good on some pitches, and he looked downright lousy on other pitches. He just didn't have any command or consistency last night. Hopefully, Randolph learned something about the big leagues last night and will be more effective in his next outing. It was good to see Lamb and Berkman continuing to hit.

The club's just got to put last night out of their minds and get behind the Wizard today.

Woody's ERA is creeping up towards 6.00, which is horrible. The problem is that Woody has a demonstrated record of pitching better in the second half. Last year, I think that he won 8 of his last 9 starts. And he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

The problem may also be that he's 40.

Which makes the two-year contract all the more, umm, curious.

Some other club must have been bidding for Woody's services to force the Astros to give out a two year deal.
