The minor leagues is about many things. The primary being development of young baseball players into major league baseball players. I enjoy watching that development. Yet, more than that, I love watching the guys who realistically have no chance of making the majors enjoy playing the game. They seem understand that they are very lucky to have a job playing baseball. Those guys are some of my favorites.
Case in point is Jim Goethals of Lexington. Going into last nights game, Jim was 0 for the season. He came to bat in the bottom of the ninth with a runner on and two outs. He was 0-2 on the night. By the way, of his 0-12, 10 were strike outs. Jim got his first hit of the season last night. A walk off two run home run. The call of the homer and the video are on the legends website, as well as a player of the game interview. The lighting is bad in the interview but you can still see him beaming. Here is the video.

I just threw the right pitches in the right counts. Give a lot of credit to Jim Goethals. He called a great game today."
