I'm still nervous. Maybe it's because no season has actually been easy for the Astros. The rotation still has some serious hurdles to overcome (i.e. Woody's high ERA in the early going, Jennings on the DL, waiting for the bottom to drop out on Sampson and Wandy), and the offense certainly has a tendency to be collectively streaky. No doubt, they've played well over the last 1.5 weeks, but I've been  burned by feeling good about teams in April, and it's too soon for me to start feeling "good" about the team. But it is a good sign.

I'm not high on Woody and I didn't particularly like the signing. Hopefully he can keep his ERA below 5 and just eat innings. As far as Sampson--He's a gamer. I love his ability. I think he is going to win 14+ games. & Jennings has got to get back and perform.
Make a runnnnnnnn!!!!

Haven't seen a lineup with this much pop since the Beltran months.  Just a pleasure to watch.  Can't wait to see how hard it will be for a pitcher once Berkman gets hot.

waiting for the bottom to drop out on Sampson

I think you might be waiting awhile.

I love watching the astros win or lose.  However, one marked change from the past two seasons that makes them even more fun to watch is that you don't quite get the same feeling of despair when we fall behind in games.  Here's to hoping it continues.

I had that same feeling about the 86 team.  Here is hoping they recreate that cardiac feeling.

Did you forget, still waiting for Lee to seperate his shoulder running into the wall in Left, Big Puma rupters his hammy legging out a triple, and Roy trips in the shower and breaks all the fingers in his right hand. Oh and not to mention the plane crash.
Chuck Norris once ate three 72 oz. steaks in one hour. He spent the first 45 minutes having sex with his waitress.

I'm getting the same feeling about this team. What impressed me the most was the sac fly by Ensberg. That just didn't seem to happen last year.

I am a bit pessimistic, but I really like the way Morgan is approaching his AB's this year.  Same with Lane.

It never ceases to amaze me how riduclous some people are when it comes to the Astros.

Man, we just saw two late inning rallies in *2 DAYS*! The Astros scored 10 runs in the 8th inning in the last 2... When was the last time THAT happened? Especially in two games where it actually won the game?

How can you NOT be excited?

I, for one, was surely "entertained."

Not to hijack the thread, but your avatar of Gleason reminds me of an interesting interview I heard with him on the "Larry" channel (Larry King) on XM.  Also listened to one with Desi Arnez and another with Sammy Davis, Jr.  Those guys were damn impressive to listen to--very intelligent guys.  It's hard to find people in show business today that can bring that same level of talent and intellect to the table.  And King is/was at his best in the radio format.  He gave them a fairly slack line and they ran with it.

These are likely the same people who booed Lidge on the Nady homerun and gave up on the season at 1-5.  They're now invested in their opinion, not in watching the game.

I realize how it sounds. I guess I just don't want to get my hopes up too high. If the Astros continue to play well as a team and win games, I know I'll start feeling more optimistic.. This is definitely exciting, and I'm thrilled. I'm just apprehensive about expecting this level of play for more than a couple of weeks.

I really think this weekend in Milwaukee will be a very good test. They too are a much improved team playing well right now. If the Astros can win 2 of 3, I think that will a big step forward for this team.

It's the Astros' 4, 5 & 1 pitchers vs. their 1, 2 & 3.  Sheets and Capuano are very good.  This weekend's series will be a stern test, but not a good barometer.

I agree, if the Astros come out 2-1 on this series, I would be truely excited, but if they come out 1-2, I would not be shocked.

I love the battling nature that the line-up seems to have this year, almost a confidence you might say, that they never seemed to show last year.

But the starting rotation concerns me a bit, especially with Jennings on the DL.  And for the record, I am not worried about Woody, although I view his 2-year contract with a raised eyebrow, given the gaggle of pitchers right on the verge of ML ready.
