Whether Barmes is asked to switch positions could hinge on the Jennings trade discussions. Houston remains his most likely destination if the Astros can meet the Rockies' demands for starter Jason Hirsh and either center fielder Willy Taveras or reliever Dan Wheeler.

There are SO many Rockies I would rather have than him!  Is Taveras and Hirsh's value so low (or Jennings so high) that, that is the best they could get???

You got him on his first sentence.  But his question concerning what the Astros are reportedly being asked to give up is legit as it pertains specifically to what the Astros want and Rockies want. Whatever deal the Astros make should serve as an education to all on how teams value players.

here's a tip: teams value their own players higher than other teams do. so do "fans."

i do not think that article says Barmes has been offered to Houston.

Who pissed in your post-toasties today?

What role would Barnes have on this team?  Back-up middle infielder?

Maybe the value for Jennings is such that Taveras and Hirsh are both required, I agree the article doesn't really mention that Barmes is linked to Jennings deals.  Just responding to the post comment about him.

Yikes.  I'd rather take my chances with Hirsch as the number 3 guy.

Yet some fans don't understand that.  The more examples for them the better.

Agreed.  I read that as the implications for Barmes are based at least in part on what happens with Jennings.

I'd rather sign a guy like Suppan as my number 3, and let hirsh be the 4th starter to open the year if you deem the trade market is too inflated.   I don't want hirsh as the 3rd starter the opening week of the season personally.  I'd feel a lot better about things if he could be the 4th starter.
