He says Santana was taken by the Twins in the rule 5 draft, but I think that's wrong.  Baseball Reference says it was the Marlins...I guess research takes too long.

so maybe this should be the wave of the future .. research who needs it. if you think it is so or just looks good in the article or paper you happen to be writing run with it..i guess there is no policing or board of ethics among sports writers

Yes, I admit it.  Expecting a reporter to know the bare minimum about what they're writing is one of my quirks. It seems to be an irrational expectation that many people do not share.

the real culprit is the editor; i honestly and sincerely don't think the chornicle employs any.

case in point - sunday, a guy named steve campbell wrote an article about how, if the texans were to beat the titans, it would mark only the second time in franchise history they had strung together back-to-back wins, the first coming in late september/early october of 2004.

problem is they actually did it twice more that same season. so not only did he have the last occurance wrong, the entire foundation of his article was wrong.

how in fuck's sake did that get published? campbell may indeed but a fucktard, but his editor deserves far more of our scorn.

You have to look no further than the fact that the editorial content has been demoted from op-ed pieces to blogs.  The "journalists" are publishing their drivel directly to the public, without bothering with any editorial oversight.

I'm glad you reminded me about that article.  It was such a stream-of-consciousness type thing that I thought I was reading some 16-year-old girl's blog or something.  It also contained this turd which I thought was in seriously poor taste:  

"If ESPN takes as many liberties as it did with A Season On The Brink, then look for one episode to revolve around Thurman Munson deciding to give up flying. "
