Chris Carpenter's "slow start"
« on: September 21, 2006, 05:03:28 pm »
"Carpenter (15-6, 2.79 ERA) started the season slowly. In his first 15 starts, he was 6-4 with a 2.85 ERA. He's made 15 starts since Aug. 4, and is 9-2 with a 2.73 ERA."

Man he started slow.  A 2.85 ERA?  my goodness.  So much worse than his 2.73 ERA since.

Record is the most telling statistic of a pitcher's individual success, duh.
"Ground ball right side, they're not gonna be able to turn two OR ARE THEY, THROW, IS IN TIME!!! WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE TURN BY BRUNTLETT AND EVERETT, AND THEY CUT DOWN MABRY TO END THE GAME, AND THE ASTROS LEAD THIS NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES THREE GAMES TO ONE!!!!!"

Slacking bastard.  They should trade him to us for a bag of baseballs and a slightly used massage table.  Who wants a pitcher that starts off as slow as that?
