Mariano Rivera has had only 3 save opportunities and blew one of those?  Why does the Boss keep him hanging around?

I don't know, but I'm guessing it has something to do with stuff trusting, one way or the other.

Mariano's not manufacturing enough save opportunities to justify my expectations.

I'm in favor of trading Brad Lidge if we can get something of real value to fill a hole in the team, but it has nothing to do with the shaky start this spring.  I just think teams tend to over value closers, and they tend to break down and/or turn to crap more than other positions.

I'd have definately done the Miggy Tejada trade as a for example.  I don't think I'd trade him straight up for more than a half dozen closers though, probably less than that.

Of course you have to give up something to get something of value and lidge is the first place I'd start on this team, but it'd have to be big type value.

Lidge is obviously just throwing too many 12-6 sliders.

I disagree with them saying Lidge needs to be traded.  He has 7 saves out of 8 oppurtunities. I do agree with you guys saying he needs to trust his stuff a little more but trading him is blowing it out of poportion.  No pitcher is perfect, and no pitcher is going to end the season with a zero era. Lidge is getting in trouble alot, but he is still getting the job done. If you trade Lidge, you'd be trading one of the top closers in the game. If not the best.

You are wrong here.  jb666 transmorgrified into Brad Lidge's body would save 50 of 50, with a 0.00 ERA.

Just keep busting 'em inside, baby.

BTW, is jb a friend of yours?  Just curious...

Considering everything I said disagrees with what he says, then why would you assume I'm his friend? Or are you just that bored?

Astros World? Actually this is the first forum I've registered with. I've observed some of the antics that went on at Astros.com and it simply wasnt my style. Found this site in prospect of engaging in quality baseball conversations minus the immaturity thats associated with so many other forums. Is Astros World a favorable forum?

It means your bullshit is vaguely baseball-related enough that the U.S. government probably won't sanction you for advertising it as having "baseball substance."

But it deosn't really have anything to do with baseball, or have any substance at all.

Wow you sure are a friendly one strosrays,...why the vulgarity? Is it a lack of vocabulary, manners or intellect? How come no one really have argued *for* trading Lidge, and rather conducted a volley of personal attacks. I thought we where suppose to be talking about our favorite ball team here...

Better yet, just fuck off.  You add nothing here but background noise whining and the worst kind of "first time caller" knee-jerk ignorance.

Oh, and the ignorance your are fucking portraying relates to your total lack of understanding of the original post.  To which you responded.  A response oozing with your complete ignorance of the meaning of the original post.

That ignorance.

It's too bad we don't issue an official Sarc-o-Meter at the entrance of the OWA.  Heck, we could even charge users for one, sorta our own OWA Shed online.  It could be the only item we sell.

But then again, if you don't grasp sarcasm to begin with, how in the heck are you going to know you need a meter reader for it?

I heart  Alyson Footer ...

HOUSTON -- If managers and general managers based their decisions on what the casual fan thinks -- and let's just say, thank goodness they don't -- Brad Lidge would be traded, released, sent to the Minor Leagues or given a one-way ticket to somewhere far, far away from Minute Maid Park.

Emphasis is mine. Maybe she should have just said "Clark," instead of "casual fan." Or "Hornfans.Com poster."

I dont think a sarc meter is going to do any good.  Anyone who can't understand that suggesting a trade of Lidge for Dempster is a joke, needs a mirror held under his nose.

Most of the time, the poster's integrity carries the weight of the post as much as the content.  But you were *told* repeatly that it was sarcasm and yet you continued wasting bandwidth.  That seems to be your only intent and if so, it will not be tolerated because trolling is a high offense around here.

Just idle curiousity, are you ever going to post anything without extensive whining?  I posted the original and I can assure you it was a joke. The use of the word "we" is the first clue.

(1)  Vulgarity only makes you look stupid if you use it stupidly.

(2) No one is changing the story, except you.

(3) Support "lolol" all you like (what does that mean, by the way, "laughing out loud out loud"?), but just understand that you would lose credibility around here for using it, if you had any to begin with.

(4) Your English is poor too.  "Horrible speller" doesn't meant what you think it means.

1.) I'd advise to reduce the amount of vulgarity, because it well, makes people look like uneducated rednecks.

2.) It wasnt made clear that the 'call' was a joke,...one could argue that it looks like yall are changing the story now...

3.)I support the use of lolol when things are that funny

4.) I'm a horrible speller maybe I should put that as a disclaimer on my signature.

Just idle curiousity, are you ever going to post anything without extensive whining?  I posted the original and I can assure you it was a joke. The use of the word "we" is the first clue.

so, you are saying it was meant as a joke?

fucking sarcasm meter has been broken for weeks.

Read a little first, before spooging the entire contents of your intellect on the board.  Then you would've seen multiple threads, just a few days prior, attacking another Clark for proclaiming that Lidge is fucked mentally.  When one of those attackers subsequently posts a trade suggestion involving Lidge, you can assume it's sarcasm.

I love the idiocy and whining bits, its all yall are doing as well. This thread has turned into a bitch-feast.

You're bitching and whining, we're slamming.  We're slamming you, BTW, in case you weren't sure.

Common intelligence.  I hope you discover it someday.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

JDJ Ortiz made reference in the Chronicle to fan concern over Lidge's psyche.  Either there's plenty of stupid to go around, or they've been reading here.  If they've been reading here, I truly hope they aren't taking such opinions as indicative of the board as a whole.

The board is too inbred for more than one opinion.

Please excuse me while I go kick DaWarrior in the nuts to make the meaning of the above clear.

Support "lolol" all you like (what does that mean, by the way, "laughing out loud out loud"?), but just understand that you would lose credibility around here for using it, if you had any to begin with.

I'm really dying to know what "lolol" means. I'm always the last person to learn these things. For years, I had no idea that ":P" was a variation of one of those dumb smiley face things. I spent way too much time trying to think of words that either begin or end with the letter "P" that would fit in the context.

Then, after I got here, I thought NTTAWWT (which also took me a significant amount of time to figure out) was a commonly used email acronym, which it isn't. Basically, I'm email acronym illiterate, and am always receptive to an explanation for one with which I'm unfamiliar.

Let's not confuse the greatness of Seinfeld (NTTAWWT) with pre-pubescent IM blather (lol, lmao, rotf, etc...)
