If you didn't see it, how do you know he wasn't throwing strikes?

Everyone needs to get off Lidge. The season's early, and he'll find his stuff. All pitchers go through this type of slump during a long season.

I'm just glad Garner is sticking with him and giving him extra confidence. He'll be fine, and guess what - the Astros won the game. No whining.

speaking of not trusting your stuff, the throw by kenny lofton on the game winning sac fly last night, horrible.  he caught it flat footed and then proceeded the throw the ball about 140 feet with nothing on it, that really was one of the weakest throws from center field(including pigpen) i've ever seen.
but willy can fly, so it would have taken a vlad guerrero arm to get him at home.

Lofton had terrible mechanics on that catch/throw. Combined with his weeny arm and Willy's speed, not a chance.

Finally, something that Lofton can't kill the Astros with.

there's this feature on yahoo.com which is like a numerical synopsis of the game including a breakdown of each pitchers stats.  sometimes it can be found in your daily newspaper.. commonly refered to as a "boxscore"

under the column labeled "BB" and in the row entitled "Lidge" it shows the number "2" under "IP" it says 1 and under "blown saves" it says 1 and under "trouble finding the plate" it says "YES"

hope that helps..

I assume this "boxscore" might have also included something along the lines of "Ejected: Ausmus, 9th".  This might provide a clue that perhaps some of the umpire's calls were questionable.

This "boxscore" also provides no clue as to whether he was just missing the corners or hitting the bull.

All of this is to say that reading a boxscore is a poor substitute for watching the action.

uhh..ok.  is that an attempt to enter our conversation?
you may stop typing now.

to anyone else:
i didn't see the game...but i dont think it's unreasonable to conclude that brad didn't have his good control.  2 walks and a blown save..

let's hope he can regain his form.  i'm happy tonight in any case 15-6, first place..

actually i have to disagree here.  i also didnt see the game, saw that we gave up a run in the 9th, and then my buddy told me ausmus was ejected in the bottom of the 9th.

the very first thing i thought was, i bet there were borderline calls that the dodgers were getting in the bottom of the inning that lidge wasnt getting in the top.  which is in fact the question that i asked him, but he really doesnt watch enough to be able to say for sure.
Here are just a few of the key ingredients: dynamite, pole vaulting, laughing gas, choppers - can you see how incredible this is going to be?

maybe you're right... i didn't see it.  i'd rather brad was victimized by the umps than a true lack of control

I don't think the calls against Lidge were necessarily wrong, but they were borderline, and Ausmus was sticking up for his pitcher when he decided to push the umpire into tossing him.

Now that you've talked this though, are things more clear to you?

All I saw in the thread title was "Lidge...Stuff...Face", and I thought to myself, "can't we let the mole thing go yet?"

Then I thought, "Mole. Bloody mole. We aren't supposed to talk about the bloody mole, but there's a bloody mole winking me in the face. I want to c-u-u-t it off, ch-o-o-p it off, and make guacamole."
60% of the time... it works everytime.
