MLB closing in on Bonds
« on: April 20, 2006, 01:12:11 pm »
Bonds was fined $5,000 for wearing wristbands that violated baseball's apparel rules because of their size and logo design...
Bonds has appealed the ruling, Bob Watson said.....

Watson also said Bonds had previously run afoul of baseball's uniform guidelines before.
"He's appealed it before," Watson said. "He's been fined before."

Barry Claims that he has worn the same size wristbands for the last few years.
Well, Barry. Prehaps its because you're shrinking back down to regular human size, its making your wrist bands look bigger?

I knew it! I knew MLB had bigger plan for obtaining evidence of steroid use.  Good to know that this has some purpose and that they aren't just dicking around.

now let me get this straight. Bonds is now going to be treated like any other ballplayer? one who is expected to obey the rules both off and on the field.. say it aint so
I was listening to Jim Rome today and he said bonds was fighting the fine and not wearing him cuz it was like a lucky charm then went on questioning why he made such a big thing of the bands but would not speak out and speak up on his innocence...
forever is composed entirely of nows

Uniform guidelines?  I figured if you kept your shirttail tucked in, that was about all the guidelines there were.  Are the guidelines spelled out somewhere?  What about off-center caps?  Dirty helmets?  Long pants vs short pants?  And whatever happened to stirrup socks anyway?

$5000 for big wristbands seems a little silly.

I'm guessing it's more about the logo than the wristband size.

There are all kinds of uniform regulations.  They're outlined in Major League Rule 1 and in the CBA.  For wristbands, the rules say only that they can't be white or have a manufacturers logo of more than 2 quare inches.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I read that as "2 queer inches".  John Lopez needs to get the hell out of my head.

Ah, then it's probably these logos that broke the rules:   Link

Fila?  I think that's what they say.

If the wristband don't fit, you must acquit.

That's what you get for wearing headbands on your large, water retaining wrists.  You can't expect him to try to fit one of those on his head, right?  He is not only chasing aaron for the HR mark, he is also chasing Mench (aka Shrek) for the largest lid in the majors.
