do we need a defensive metric
« on: April 13, 2006, 05:02:31 pm »
to tell us Mike Lamb is not an MLB calibre fielder anywhere he plays?

Incidentally- does BB now have warning track power?  Jon Miller went into a home run call, ball caught by the laner for an out.

He got lazy on that play at third. He could have gotten in front of the ball and made a better play.
Oye. Vamos, vamos.

if he plays every day, as he has when Mo was injured, he is not that bad. what are you great if you only get to try it once every 10 days?
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Attention husbands:  This is a winning argument.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

no one has a birthday or anniversary every 10 days.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Thus the need for the argument.

Truly - I think you've helped us all today.

He didnt get a lot of time last season.  But even in 04 when he did have some games in a row his technique didn't improve.  He goes to his right well, he's quick, and can throw when he remembers to plant.  When he gets excited he'll sail throws to 2nd into right.  He's not good.  I imagine some would need a metric to verify that, for that matter we could also translate it into semaphore so the ships at sea understand it.

agree that he is neither average nor good, but i do not think he is brutal when he gets several games in a row.

No not brutal, but he doesn't keep his glove down, pecks at the ball.

Finally saw it when they replayed the game at midnight.  The technical term for what happened is that he "got ate up".  Laid back, should have moved in.  Here's another one, "let the ball play him".  It goes back to confidence and reps.
