"This is the best I've felt in a couple of years," (Wade Miller, a Cub) said.
"Hopefully I won't have any setbacks and I can keep right on going with my progress."

At best, Redding (WhiteSox) ranks seventh among starters for the World Series winners, who list starting pitching as their strength. Why would Redding come here rather than to a team always searching for pitching, like Kansas City, Texas or Pittsburgh?

"Simple," Redding said. "I know I can contribute out of the bullpen as well as start. ? I know I can't compete for a starting spot, not with this group, but I really think I can help. This was where I wanted to go, so it's great to be here."

"I still got it," Lima (a Met) said. "Even though I struggled last year, Jose Lima is not done yet, and I'm going to prove that."

"I've always enjoyed pitching there," (Scott Elarton, a Royal) said of Kauffman Stadium. "It is a big park. We're going to have a good defense behind us this year. I'm really looking forward to it." ... Elarton's 0.60 fly ball ratio - 290 ground balls, 485 fly balls - was tops in the American League last season.

"I told (Dotel, a Yankee) already, it's June (for his return)," Torre said. "We have a program for him and how hard he throws, and how good he feels is not going to change anything."

Pedro Astacio interests me if his arm still is attached to his body. he knows how to pitch, but perhaps injuries have done him in.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Has he slapped his wife around lately?

I think he read that the AL has a rule that makes "DH" a starting position, and since he has always been the "Designated Headcase" he applied.

"The Nationals are awaiting word on an offer they made to free agent pitcher Pedro Astacio for a one-year, minor league contract, ...Astacio is also weighing an offer from the San Diego Padres..."
