The Link

So this means the 8th inning ERA for StL jumps to about 56.00?
How can you ask me a question like that?  Do you ask The Beatles that??

3 years, $13M?

Apparently the days of everyone taking a hometown discount for the Jakes are over.  Jocketty's negotiating stance here was "hands on ankles".
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I think Looper will do pretty well in that role, at least at first. I thought he did a good job as a set-up guy for the Marlins a few years ago. The ninth inning, as we all know, is a completely different story.

Oh yeah, and Jocketty totally "took one for the team".
phew. for a minute there, I lost myself

Looper was a great sign for St. Louis, but as always teams overpay for talent.

I believe they did this only because Izzy's arm is always a question from year to year and Looper can step into a closer's role if needed.  Expensive insurance policy but i guess they thought they needed it.

I know they traded Ray King and I believe that Julian Tavarez is a Free Agent and is heading elsewhere which I have heard that the Mets were involved so their bullpen has taken a bit of a hit.
