One of the great sports anthems in history will resurface in the World Series.

"Na Na,

Na Na Na Na . . . "

But first, the White Sox will have to win a game on their home turf or, at the very least, knock an opposing pitcher senseless.

. . . "Hey, Hey, Hey, Goodbye."

In 1977, the chorus from Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)went gold. At least it did in the stands of old Comiskey Park, where the chant became the signature of every White Sox victory. It was sarcastic, mean-spirited and the perfect way to mock a beaten opponent.

For my 11th birthday, my Dad took me on a trip to see the 7th and 8th to last games at the original Comiskey.  They won both games over the Red Sox, and Thigpen had his 50th and 51st saves.  I definitely sang along at the end of each game.  Still gives me a chill to think about it.
"Ground ball right side, they're not gonna be able to turn two OR ARE THEY, THROW, IS IN TIME!!! WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE TURN BY BRUNTLETT AND EVERETT, AND THEY CUT DOWN MABRY TO END THE GAME, AND THE ASTROS LEAD THIS NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES THREE GAMES TO ONE!!!!!"

They play it when the opposing pitcher gets taken out, though Sox fans have been requesting that it doesn't get played if a pitcher has owned the batters, then looks tired, and gets taken out with a lead, because it just looks dumb.

They answered by only playing it once in that case, and multiple times if they knock a pitcher out

I cut the White Sox some slack here, because A.) at least they adopted their chant from a song by a band from their own fucking town; and B.) whatever negatives come from hearing the chant are far outweighed to the good by the fact the team staged Disco Demolition Night in 1979(?) which, including the ensuing riot and cancellation/forfieture of the 2nd game of a doubleheader, was simply one of the greatest moments in the history of ballpark promotions, anywhere, anytime.

Bill Veeck was a genius.

"Either a genius or a certifiable wacko."  I posted the thing about the chant, not to complain, Astros do the same kind of thing with different music, but cause I think we have no idea about what it's like to play the White Sox and thought it would give us a clue of what's to come.

When I think of the ChiSox, I think of the second deck and how easy it would be to tumble down an 80 degree rake. How anyone would sit in this environment is beyond me. Have a look at this:

I'd sit there, say next week. Just me.
