Pettitte hit on knee in pre-game warm-ups?
« on: October 13, 2005, 10:47:11 am »
Just heard on 610, as he was jogging the bases, Roy hit a line drive right on the RIGHT knee.

Anyone else heard anything about this?
Chuck Norris once ate three 72 oz. steaks in one hour. He spent the first 45 minutes having sex with his waitress.

that sucks.  if he had not been hit, he wouldn't have pitched the way he did.  it was very unpettite like and now we know why.

Yeah, heard it pre-game on the radio last night, and more about from Garner post-game.  Pettitte said it didn't effect him but Garner believed it, being his plant foot, was affecting his location.

Yea....apparently Roy wasn't happy that he didn't get the nod to start yesterday after Pettite claimed the reason for him not being at the ATL game was because he had the flu.  It was actually the 4th ball that Roy hit that actually made contact...the first three he hit into the Crawford box and were caught by the same guy that caught Berkman and Burkes...(I heard that this guy was found dead this morning from an apparent freak lightning storm which he was struck not once but twice...he was holding the winning ticket to last nights lottery drawing.)

Baseball gods obviously didn't care for Roy not hitting behind the runner during BP.    Roy will atone tonight, by decking Reggie Sanders on his first AB.

ESPN Radio was talking about it throughout the game, wondering if it had affected his performance. I later heard that he needed a shot in the back of the knee before the game to reduce the swelling. Everyone is saying that he'll pitch Game 5, assuming the Astros win at least one before then.

I know Pettitte said it didn't affect him, but after hearing what they had to do to it, I find that hard to believe. He was leaving the ball up a lot, and wasn't using his offspeed pitches much. I don't know how his knee would effect those two things, but he definitely did not seem to be pitching  his game last night.
phew. for a minute there, I lost myself
