He could have made a ton of money like the guy who caught the Bonds or McGwire balls.

That didn't come out right.

Doubtful.  Those two HRs (Bonds/McGwire) were a lot more meaningful to all baseball fans, and therefore worth a lot more money.  That's not to say that the two from yesterday aren't worth something (monetarily), but I'd be surprised if they were worth more than a few hundred bucks.  Hopefully it's a moot point, he'll give them back to the Astros, and he'll get a nice collection of memorabilia and tickets to the rest of the playoffs or something.

I diagree. While he wouldn't have made as much money as McGwires balls bought in, he could have made some nice coin having the ball that ended the longest post season game in history.

Oh, I'm not saying he couldn't get SOME money from the baseballs, but you said a "ton" of money.  I interpreted that to say that you thought he could get equivalent money(i.e. hundreds of thousands of dollars) from them.  There's no way, in my opinion, unless Mattress Mac got into a bidding war with Drayton McLane.  This is a Houston-specific piece of memorabilia.  Anyway, yes, they're worth *something*, but more memory-wise than money-wise (IMO).

If the fan is smart, he gives those balls to the organization (who will shower him with praise and goods).  He gets to be a hero.  If he starts money grubbing, which is his right, then he will be treated like the fucking jerk that he is.

My guess is that he will do the right thing.
