Sweep averted 8-1 Astros

Triple A, journeyman and spot starter Brian Cooper matched Roger Clemens pitch for pitch.  After exchanging runs in the first, the Giants were aided by a bobble by Jason Lane which allowed Randy Winn to advance to third, the pitching duel/ fly ball practice lasted until the 7th.   In the 8th, the Giants lifted Cooper and the pop ups the Astros were hitting all day finally got some distance vs reliever Scott Eyre.

It started with a double that had no business being a double.  Burke hustled into second on a bloop single.  Then Berkman, impressive himself, pushing his reconstructed knee, got another double and the Astros had all they needed at 2-1.  But, Jason Lane, atoning for the bobble, increasing the hope that he's going to be an offensive force for stretch run, and showing off his good swing, smashed a 3 run homerun.  But they weren't done.  After the recidivistic offensive show they put on the first two games, the Astros got in some practice scoring more runs in the 9th.

Clemens did his usual work, 7 innings no earned runs and he dropped his ERA again.  He was aided by some good defense, especially from Mo.

No game on Monday.
