Good start to road trip 3-1 Astros

In the top of the first Lance Berkman hit a 25 feet high, 425 feet long blast.  He got a double.  The second Diamondback hitter hit one just inside the right field foul pole.  He got a homerun.  1-0.  But, that was it for the Diamondbacks.  Roger Clemens, reportedly with continuing back problems, went 7 innings, struck out 8, gave up 4 hits, including that one in the first.  Un-befuckin-lievable.

Meanwhile the Astros hitters were having flashbacks to the beginning of the season.  Valverde (Should be Vargas, Valverde struck out 2 more, he looked good but not that good) mowed down the Astros, striking out 9 himself.  However, in the 5th, Biggio was able to drop a single in front of novice centerfielder Shawn Green; who was playing way too far back the entire game.  That scored Ausmus.  Then in the 6th Everett whipped a double down the 3b line that scored a hustling Lamb from first.  In the top the 8th Lamb muscled a homerun to put the Good Guys up 3-1.  That was all the scoring that was necessary, but there was more to this game than scoring.

In the bottom of the 7th with a runner on first and two outs, Everett ranged behind second to cut off a sure single that would have put runners on 1st and 3rd.

But the Play of the Game, was of course Eric Bruntlett's sliding grab of a slicing flyball into the right field corner.  Proving that the ball will always find the player who just came in the game and is playing out of position.   Troy Glaus was surprised too, as he had just run over to third from first, thinking "no way is he going to catch that".  Can't think what else he could've been thinking.

Tonight at 9:00 Central (I HATE west coast games), Zeke vs Houston native and Valentine's Day boy Brad Halsey.
