Brewers shut out Astros 3-0

When a pitcher plants his lead foot during his delivery he has the expectation that it will plant.  Not so in Milwaukee.  Roy Oswalt was sliding around the mound during the first inning at Miller Park as if they had sprayed the thing down with WD- 40.

Sparky walked the bases loaded with one out and induced a tailor made double play ball straight at Ensberg.  But, apparently, Moberg lugs around the Grand Canyon for a mitt because he dug around in there for the one hopper long enough for glaciers to form and recede and long enough for  the dp to turn into a fielder choice and the run to score.

And, that, as they say on the golf course, was all she wrote.

Home plate ump Bill Miller artistically interpreted the strike zone as a roll of toilet paper.  Sparky adapted by throwing the ball into the zone.  Doug Davis adapted by pitching to the Astros.

High fastballs WAAAY high and out of the strike zone served to flummox our boys.  A 3 hit shutout, that makes eight, 8, XIII, OCHO, shutouts and counting so far this season.

Oswalt left the game in the 6th with a problem with his back.  No word yet on the severity of the problem.

Chad Qualls gave up his two runs because a line drive landed right in Willy Taveras? glove.  Of course it bounced right out.

The game was a mercifully short 2 hours and 33 minutes.  I could have watched the Bridge Over the River Kwai.

Hey! Whatta ya know?  They play again tomorrow, note the time 6:05.  The little bird was right, Wandy Rodriguez goes against Ben Sheets, fresh off the DL.
