Holy shit, we’re facing pudge’s progeny. It seems like only yesterday he was an aging FA sign for a desperate owner who continued to feign relevance.

Astros strand Bregman in the top of the frame.

Leadoff walk erased by a 5-4-3 dp, F8 finishes the inning.

White cannot lay off those high pitches. That might have worked in AAA, but I don't think it's going to fly up here.

This lineup certainly strikes fear in the hearts of no one. Gonna need to scratch out a couple of runs and make some pitches.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I don't know who the fuck Quinn Wolcott is, but he doesn't have a clue where the outside corner is so far.

As a former hard liner who swore I’d never convert to the DH dark side, bring on the DH now please. If I’m gonna stay up way past my bedtime, I’d rather watch Gattis hit, not a damn pitcher.

Has anyone in here actually been to AT & T Park? It looks like the water level from the bay just over the fence in right is WAY higher than field level. Is it? Never noticed this before but a pregame angle, and one just a second ago, certainly gave it that appearance.

I've been.   I done think the field is below the water line but then again I didn't look for that in particular.

I have but didn’t contemplate this issue. It’s a beautiful park, but the chill is real, even in August. My fleece vest was woefully inadequate.

I can handle not being as skilled as the starters, but having zero baseball IQ and just standing up there Ensberging at pitches... Fuck.

Every single pitch to Crawford was away. If you know that's how you're going to pitch a hitter maybe put someone within 20 yards or so of where he's likely to hit it.

Bottom 9

Rondon on the mound

Longoria takes a strike 0-1, fouls 0-2, lays off a slider 1-2, taps ove foul 1-2, takes a low  FB 2-2, whiffs on a slider
Crawford takes outside 1-0, then a strike on the corner 1-1, another 1-2, takes outside 2-2, fouls another outside pitch 2-2, and another 2-2, grounds one thru the shift into left
Slater goes 1-1, 2-1 on a 59 footer,  fouls 2-2, looks at an offspeed pitch for strike 3
Panik F7

Final
Astros 3
Giants 1

Osuna (W)
Rondon (Sv)

Damn that was great!!

Bregman and Yuli refused to chase.

They ended up with walks so people scanning the agate won't know, but those were seriously high quality at bats.

some great stuff from http://www.astroscounty.com/ today:

Hector Rondon has made 43 appearances this season, 21 at home and 22 on the road.
 -Home: 19.1IP, 23H/10ER, 24K:8BB, .805 OPS-against, 4.66 ERA / 1.60 WHIP
 -Away: 21.1IP, 10H/0ER, 27K:3BB, .340 OPS-against, 0.00 ERA / 0.61 WHIP

Charlie Morton: 7IP, 3H/1ER, 8K:3BB. It's his 5th start of 7IP, 0-1ER this season. In his last three starts he's thrown 19IP, 13H/4ER, 21K:8BB. 16 of his 22 starts have been Quality.

Over the 18 games since July 13, Marwin is hitting .298/.403/.561 with four home runs. He has three 2-hit games in his last five. Prior to July 13 Marwin was hitting .224/.302/.350. He had four home runs in his previous 60 games.

*When the Astros swept Oakland on the road from June 12-14, Oakland was 34-36. Since then, however, Oakland is 33-10
