Houston stay
« on: March 24, 2018, 06:52:54 pm »
So my son is seriously considering UofH.  We are going to their junior day in a couple of weeks.  The Hilton on campus is full.  Where’s the best place to stay one night for under $200 a room for 4?  Some place downtown near Minute Maid?  Near Rice?  Thanks folks.

Either downtown or near Rice would be fine. If it’s over a weekend, a lot of downtown hotels have very good rates. I don’t know off the top of my head, but I would think under $200 would be quite doable.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Thanks.  I found a Wyndham near Rice that has what I need in my price range.

Usually you can get a good rate at the Embassy Suites by Discovery Green.  You’d have multiple rooms, decent free breakfast and free booze for managers happy hour.  Bonus. 2 Minute walk to the train that drops you off at UH.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

And good luck to your son.
