Zone Charts/Hot Zones
« on: October 08, 2017, 08:03:53 am »
For 2017.  I always like to look at zone charts, but I'd never played with these.   http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/hotzones/_/id/32078/george-springer

Altuve.  If there's a way to tell how many hits I can't figure it out, so some of these could be negligible.  Altuve was great at straight down the center, and for fastballs he's hitting .500.  He's also hitting .500 for fastballs high and inside.  His highest slg is high and centered, but he's hitting .714 high and outside.  Only .520 low and outside.  He likes fastballs, and seems good at laying off curves.  There are four zones out of the strike zone where he batted over .400.

Springer.  Sucks at low and away but kills changeups low and away.  He slugs .950 high and away.

Marwin.  Is brilliant high and inside in the zone.  Is not brilliant low in the zone.  Gattis's zone makes an inverted Z, high and inside, straight down the center, low and away.  Correa's almost the opposite of Gattis; high and outside in the zone, then inside for the lower part of the zone.  His highest slg is inside center or low.
