Trade deadline - call your shot

Very simple - what do you think will happen?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I voted for what I think, but my preference is getting Beltran to DH.

I think Jay Bruce is more likely than Beltran. But I'm predicting nothing.

I also voted my preference (Beltran), but if I had to guess, I'd say LHP or nothing.

I think they'll get a bat and lefty reliever.

I think Sale does get moved.  He hates it in Chicago and has ever since the Adam LaRoche "retirement" in the Spring.  He may force their hand.

Honestly, I don't know.  I'd like Sale, I don't care about Beltran but I trust in Luhnow.

If the White Sox change course on Sale, the Astros need to find a way to get a deal done.  Sale, Keuchel and McCullers is a very nice potential playoff rotation.

Word is the Ft. Worth club is hot and heavy for Sale.

I do not mind not getting him, but the Rangers CANNOT add him.

Maybe a package like Feldman, Gomez, Musgrove for Beltran.    Yankees could argue they are improving their bullpen by adding Feldman or could start him.  Plus Musgrove gives them a needed option for a starter later this year or next.

Astros could call up Hoyt to take Feldman's spot in the pen.

They need to be but doesn't mean Sale is an asshole like Hamels.

McCullers would probably have to be part of the deal to get Sale..

You would have to think that is where ChiSox begin the negotiations. And that should be when Luhnow says no.

If the White Sox think they are getting a 22 year old with the 2nd highest K per 9 rate in baseball in a package for Sale,  you hang up the phone and target Archer at a lower cost. Bregman, other good prospects, and even someone like Fiers or McHugh should be more than enough to get a deal done.

Sale is a top of the line pitcher. It's going to take quite a bit to get him. But I agree, I wouldn't give up McCullers and whatever else they want for him.

Of course.  And that's why Bregman, the top prospect in the game, would be heading to the Windy City.

If Bregman is the top prospect in the game, what offer from another team would the Astros theoretically be competing with? In any case, I'm not at all assuming that the Astros are willing to trade Bregman in the first place.

Rangers can offer Profar and Joey Gallo.  RedSox can offer Yoan Moncada and Andrew Benintendi.

I'm not assuming the Astros would trade Bregman either.  But if they put him on the table for Sale, I think they could get a deal done without involving McCullers.  And Sale is one of the few players where Bregman's name gets justifiably mentioned.

3 moves:

3 way between the Indians, Brewers and Astros:
Trade Castro to the Indians for one of the guys the Brewers wanted.
Tack on Paulino, Feliz and Daz Cameron and get Lucroy and Will Smith.

Second
Flip Gomez, Fisher and Moran for Beltran.

Third
Martes and Fiers (likely need to add 1 or 2 lower level prospects as well) for Odorizzi

Or do nothing at all, because I just don't feel one move is going to be enough

Actually scratch Will Smith, He can't get lefties out.

Reduce Feliz from the Brewers trade and go for Cervenka of the Braves.  Teams have supposedly already talked, no idea what that would take.  Can't be that much, he spent 7 years in the minors.
