2012 Draft looking back
« on: June 08, 2017, 09:36:54 am »
I recently saw that the Astros have had 9 players drafted & signed from the 2012 draft make the majors:
(Correa, LMJ, Fontana, Rogers, Ruiz, Phillips, Tucker, Hauschild, Jankowski)

I wondered how that compare to other teams, so here are the results:

No other team has had that many make their debut.  Several have had 7 make it: A's, Dodgers, Mets, & Red Sox

The impact measured by WAR is as follows:
Astros = 16.7
Dodgers = 12.6
Cards = 12.1 (had 5 players make MLB debut but several with positive impact - Wacca 5.4 & Piscotty 4.3)
A's = 11.2
Mets = 1.7
Red Sox = -1.7

Among players, the highest career WAR of those players are:
Correa 12.7
Corey Seager 9.7 (Dodgers)
Alex Wood 9.0 (Braves)
Addison Russell 8.8 (A's)
Marcus Stroman 7.3 (Blue Jays)
Matt Duffey 6.4 (Giants)
Jake Lamb 6.1 (D Backs)
Devon Travis 6.0 (Tigers)
Gausman 6.0 (O's)
LMJ 5.7

Always ready to go to a game.
