Minor League Free Agents

Baseball America has released the list of minor league free agents. Most teams have 15-20 players who have been in the minor leagues 6 years and haven't been released or put on the 40 man roster; or those who were signed as minor league free agents whose contract is up. 

The Astros have 2: Jio Mier and R J Alaniz.  That is it.....

I'm not gonna try and weigh in on the accuracy of either list, but Jayne also has P Juan Minaya and C Alfredo Gonzalez as MLFAs.

I noticed that too.  Jayne has very good sources of info.  So if it is 4 it is still significantly less than any other team.  Which is an indicator of how bare the farm was when the new leadership took over.

Neglecting the minor league free agent market also was an organizational philosophy of the #Cardinals in the Jeff Luhnow days.

#Astros sign first @BaseballAmerica Minor League FA Tracker-eligible player: LHP Edwar Cabrera, the Dominican changeup artist.

28 year old southpaw who pitched primarily at AA Frisco last season. Threw 2 games in the majors in 2012 with the Rockies. Not especially successful vs. lefty bats (at least in 2015).
