I love how quickly Ashby transitions from agreeing with the original call to saying it should get turned over without admitting he was wrong at all.

And Ashby, after taking 5 replays to see it hit the bat and not the batter, is complaining about New York taking forever to see it.

Oh my god.  I logged in just to say this same thing I was getting so frustrated.  I saw it on the first replay.  It took him many times, and then on the final showing of the replay, he says, "It took us 6 seconds to see it.  Why did it take New York so long"

FUCK, I HATE HIM!

OMG, he is such an idiot.  The best thing about going to a game  is not listening to him.

If the crew chief really told Hinch "it doesn't matter" when he asked about the run scoring last night, that is unacceptable. That's the kind of shit you'd get fired for at a real job.

That's on Carter. The throw from marwin was routine. Ashby wanted to blame his lack of playing time at first or that he was surprised by Martin's ability to throw a ball directly to his teammate.

That error looked like a one too many beers in the late game at the softball fields kind of play.

I'dve lost my shit if an umpire told me that after the opposing team scored the go ahead run.

Come on BG, you know how many replays it would've took for New York to see him trip over that bag?

With almost no power and not drawing any walks.  It's early of course but they needed him prior to Springer's return.

The last 7 days plus today's ab.

Last 7 Games   24   3   6   3   5   1   7   0   .250     (#'s prior to HR .250   .522)

I just don't think that is being on fire, I do think he is hitting the ball really hard when he does though.  To me, being on fire is more than 6 hits.  But, I do think his HR today loosens the rest of the team for their at-bats.  And I think he is a very good outfielder, since he gets to play all three of the spots.

Some of these guys should go to Colby's optometrist.  His eye sight seems be much better than some of his team mates.

The Tigers' problem is that guys with names like Buck Farmer and Shane Greene have started too many games. These guys are really AAAA pitchers who should be in Toledo.

Carter's footwork around the base is fucking brutal.

He tried to stretch IN TO THE BASEPATH on that play and had NO chance to even try and knock it down. You've gotta get out there and at least try and knock it down, even if the throw was terrible.

The Tigers broadcasters said that he was 0-13. I didn't check behind them.

As do I. He and Altuve actually pulled each other's jerseys out while Altuve was at 1B.

If Jake could go on a tear like he was on in April, it would go a long way to push this team towards a playoff spot.

YES!!!

Screamed so loud my daughter came running into the room asking what was going on.  It sure is great to have this type of excitement about the team in mid-August.

If only. That was a great swing though. Every single pitch in that AB was just off the outside edge and he finally went out and got one. Sure, maybe it was Ball 7, but studies have shown that triples ARE better than walks.

That was the plan and it turned into a coaching job."

You're leaving out the three triples. But you're getting .167/.224/.352 (since 7/28) from a defensive liability. What's not to like?

Royals-Angels has been a heck of a game.  Trout made a running catch deep in the gap preventing a run to send it to extras after the Royals has already tied it up with a bases juiced sac fly.

Just checking my rules here ... on Jose Altuve's walk-off yesterday, he ran to first and then to second base before being mobbed.   Jose was only awarded a single because the winning run was only one base from home plate, right?    i.e. had Marisnick been on 2nd base and Altuve hit the same ball and run the same way, he would have been given a double.

I assumed the winning run reached home and the game ended before Altuve reached second.

I always thought you got either a single or a HR in that situation, nothing in between.

The batter can get credit for as many bases as the winning run advances, provided he runs them out, unless it's an out of play HR, in which case he gets all four bases and any runs that score as a result count.  If the winning run is at 3B, he can only get a single or a HR.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Thanks.  I remember an Angel, I think it was Chone Figgins, hitting a walk off double and watching the runner score from first.  His celebratory run took him to 3rd base.  He was awarded a triple.
