2015 NFL Draft
« on: April 29, 2015, 01:39:15 pm »
The long awaited NFL draft is a day away...just under 30 hours to be more specific.

I'd like to see the Texans take either a WR or ILB in the first, though I'd be ok with an CB too.  Projections seem to be all over the place.  To give Mallet or Hoyer a real shot, they need targets...Hopkins + a bunch of fodder  just isn't enough.  Likewise, Vandermeer just doesn't say the name Cushing as much as he used to during play calls.  Cushing used to be part of nearly every tackle, but now he's getting there late - I don't blame him...it's injuries and age.

It will be interesting to see if Winston goes 1, if Mariota falls.  It will also be interesting to see how the teams react to Ray's recent arrest and if a special talent like Gurley can get drafted in the 1st despite the perceived lack of value placed on RBs in the league at the moment.
The test of a true champion is how he reacts to adversity on days when it is bound to come.

If Gurley is available when the Texans pick at 16, they'd better fucking take him.  I think he'll be gone before then, however.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I think he'll be long gone but if he isn't the Texans should snap him up.  More likely they'll end up taking the next best WR after White and Cooper.

Interesting that McClain paired them with the C from FSU in his final mock.  C looks like a glaring hole with Myers gone.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I'll reserve judgement on Ben Jones until I see him play there. He's better suited for OB's offense, so we'll see how it works out. If it doesn't, they could be royally screwed.

Jets fans were well-represented in Chicago, if only in spirit:  http://deadspin.com/chicago-news-station-flawlessly-impersonates-miserable-1701288280
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Thought Parker might just fall to them but Johnson is a good pick as well.  JJo isn't going to be around forever and with Andrew Luck around they need 3 CBs anyway.  It will be interesting to see how tomorrow goes...2nd and 3rd round picks are just as important.

And he's never been accused of sexual battery, as far as I know.  It can be tough navigating the draft and avoiding such things...

Pretty good haul on the second day:

Probably the best ILB available in the draft who will be a solid backer to pair up with Cushing and a projected 1st rounder in the 3rd in J. Strong who can high point a ball pretty darn well (this is something Hopkins struggles with IMHO).

Neither of these guys are going to be stars (I.e. Top 10 at their position) but they're both likely to be good to very good.
