Sure it's easy:  voy-tse-kovski.

Just like it's spelled.

He doesn't seem to pronounce the W and J that way.  No way you get Wojo  from the way you did the pronunciation.

I'm sure he's Americanized it, and I have no idea how he pronounces his name.  I was just joking, but what I typed would be the Poland-Polish pronunciation.

Only if it's not too soon to complain about Gattis flailing ineffectively as well.

At least we're running up Bauer's pitch count. He's already over 55 and counting.

The pitch counter at mlb.com says 54 pitches through two frames. Very inefficient.

Meanwhile, the Mets score 4 off Strausburg in one inning without a single hard-hit ball. Just making contact and getting lucky.

Today and yesterday are exactly what we should have expected on bad days.  High power, low OBP, low BA, colossal strike out totals.  Not a lot of dimension to this lineup.  Hoping the good days outnumber the bad days, but the bad days aren't pretty.

Is this a no-hitter?  There seem to be lots of 0's under H in the box score.

Affirmative. Through seven.

This is a very special version of the no hitter, where the team takes 1000 walks and fritters away a million chances to drive in said walked players.  My poor dog is terrified of me today just purely based on the amount of loud swearing coming from my mouth. Lucky for him, his version of terrified involves sleeping on my bed and occasionally looking at me with that special dog stare that says "Will you PLEASE shut up? I'm trying to nap here."

Dear Jose Altuve,

Remember last year, when you were  getting hits?  Maybe that was too long ago to remember now, but a key component to that whole "being a good hitter" thing you did last year was hitting the ball on the ground and not popping everything up on the infield. Might I recommend taking a level swing and letting your mighty midget legs get you to first?

Sincerely,

Please send notes to Messrs. Gattis and Valbuena as well.  Thank you.

I'm honestly astounded that our offense is this bad.  I wasn't expecting them to be murderer's row, but wow...

Who's this new hitting coach again?

Gattis looks beyond even my rage-induced help. Valbuena stung that last one, just got under it a bit.

Wow this Gattis fellow is amazing.  9Ks in 12 at bats.   Fantastic

Golden Sombreros on consecutive days seems pretty rare.

Going back to the exhibition games against the Royals, what has this offense managed? 4 runs in four games? 3? Something like that?

Fitting end to the game. 16Ks. That's impressive.

Maybe they're trying to get all the seasons Ks out of the way early.

Is it too soon to complain about Valbuena batting third?

No.  I have asked 4 times now.  Why is a guy with a career .229 average, who has never hit even .250 or more than 12 homers batting 3rd?
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

When Cleveland came to town last September the Astros had 50K's in 4 games with 43 of them coming in the last 3 (Kluber/Carrasco/Salazar).  I'm going to assume this is the high-water mark of the season for strikeouts.

He had a .349 OBP and .801 OPS against RHP last year, he isn't as slow as Gattis and Carter and he had a good spring. I don't think he will be there when they face lefties.

Options are limited on this club for the 3-hole. The only other guy I can come up with is Lowrie unless they put Grossman in the lineup and move Altuve and Springer down.

At minimum there needs to be space between Carter and Gattis.

It may feel weird, but I would be ok with Lowrie hitting cleanup.

Altuve
Springer
Carter
Lowrie
Valbuena
Gattis
Rasmus
Castro
Marisnick

This is an offense designed for a rotisserie league. Their total runs scored after G162 won't look that bad, as long as you ignore that the only pitchers they consistently beat were mid-grade lefties and RHP who live and die by their sinkers.

I don't know exactly where I'd set the O/U for no-hitters against, but it might reach double digits.

On a positive note, maybe they'll kick the shit out of Holland tonight.
