Callups

Hoes, Stassi, Villar, Tropeano, and De Leon are up.  Tropeano and DeLeon added to the 40-man.  Clemens and Martinez were removed to make room.

Downs also activated from DL.

Assuming Clemens is claimed, only remaining piece from the Bourn trade is Obie.

I'd really like to see Stassi play.  His time last season was too short.

I don't think you should make that assumption. Also, if you believe fangraphs' WAR, Obie has been more valuable than Bourn the past two years. That's crazy to me.

No Santana?
Me too on Stassi. He looked like he had something in his brief tour last year.
I would like to see Villar get some time at third.
Castro and Dominguez have underwhelmed this year and it would be nice to see if there are alternatives in the system.

Stassi had a nice August but overall he's had a down year.

Perez is a possibility to replace Castro.

Moran is the next in line 3b.  I don't see what Villar can provide offensively and defensively that Dominguez doesn't.

More speed, less homers?

On the broadcast they just said that Tropeano is expected to get 2 or 3 starts before the season is done.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I'll take the guy whose .200 obp is thanks to homers than the guy whose .200 obp is thanks to singles.

As would I. Villar's best-case scenario is a rangy SS who's not a bad hitter for a SS. Those guys don't usually fit at 3B.

Surprised you mentioned Perez. You think the Astros will even protect him on the 40-man this time?
