Galveston County grand jury refused to indict Astros pitcher Brandon Backe and three others accused of resisting arrest at a wedding party stormed by at least 30 Galveston police officers in October.

The grand jury recommended that five felony charges against the brother of the bride be dropped and that he be charged instead with a misdemeanor resisting arrest charge ...

None of the police officers, who wedding guests accused of unprovoked violence, were indicted, but Sistrunk said the grand jury findings would be reviewed by the FBI. Link

So he's felony free and ready to pitch.  Yippee.

Ex-Astro says police ruined pitching career

Backe, 35, blames the sudden downward spiral of his career on a beating by Galveston police officers in October 2008.

Backe and 11 others say they were brutally beaten when more than 30 Galveston police officers burst into a wedding party at the H2O outdoor bar. Police say the accusations are exaggerated and any force used was justified. Backe is asking a jury of six men and six women to award him between $12 million and $15 million for lost income.
Oye. Vamos, vamos.

Galveston police did the most frightening, dehumanizing thing to me and my wife that she or I will hopefully ever experience. If this lawsuit even means those bastards have to end up buying off-brand coffee for the station's coffee maker then I'm all for it.

Just wanted to say hello, and where the fuck have you been?? Regardless, I am very happy to see you are still alive and well and living in Peru, or wherever.

Why would they make you both join a public accounting firm?

This is the best thread since Ty Gainey was born.
