Roster move: LHP Wade LeBlanc, who we acquired via the waiver wire from the Fish, is activated, and Peacock is optioned back to OkC.

I am completely uninspired by this move...

Astros start T3 with a 2B from Cedeno, but can't bring him home.  Middle 3: HOU 0, KC 0

Same here. Picking up the Fish's trash isn't my idea of helping the club. We need another soft-tossing portsider like we need a hole in the head.

Reading a basic description of the guy beforehand, I assumed it meant Blackley was on his way out. I guess you can never have too many LH long relievers with mediocre stuff...

Royal go down in order in B3, and the Astros match 'em in T4 (though a nice hustling effort by Pena to try to get on base).  Middle 4: HOU 0, KC 0

I would love it if the Astros could turn this into one of their scoring-lots-of-runs-and-looking-like-a-surprisingly-awesome-team games.

I would as well, but would settle for them turning this into one of their scoring-just-enough-runs-and-winning-the-game games...

Royals go down in order in B4. End 4: HOU 0, KC 0

Nice to see the DP there after Cedeno let a playable ball go by for a hit by Perez.

Crowe with a liner to SS. 2 outs now, with runners still at 1B and 2B in T7.  Dominguez nails one, but at 3B who goes to 2B for the force.  Middle 7: HOU 0, KC 0

The sun is shining in Portland, Oregon.  Always puts me in a generous mood on the rare occasions that it happens...

Looks like they are going to go to a RP for Harrel in B8.  Doesn't make sense to me though.  Harrel has sat down 17 of the last 18 batters he has faced, is under 100 pitches on the day, and hasn't had a 'high stress inning' since B2.  Seriously, why bring a reliever in at this point (unless Harrel thinks he is gassed, which I doubt...).

Altuve singles in T8. 1 out, altuve on 1B.

Cue the Benny Hill music now...  Royal scored after a hit, stolen base, single to CF, horrid throw by Crowe allows runner to get to 2B on the fielders choice and to 3B on the E8 (Ambriz owns part of this as well, as he was too busy feeling sorry for himself allowing the run to pay attention as he was backing up the catcher their).  Now a little looper makes it 2-0 KC in B8 with 1 out.

Hosmer goes first to third on a single to left. Carter is a real liability in left, and good for Hosmer to recognize that.

Yep, I'm giving Porter plenty of credit for this one as well.  Short of Harrel telling Bo he was gassed (again, which I doubt), pulling Harrel was just plain silly...

And the hit parade continues...  Another single puts runners on the corners with 1 out with 1 out in B8.

Of course you're a liability when you half-ass.  I hate the lollygagging shit.  No excuse for it.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

And why not walk Gordon in that situation, then bring in a reliever? Unless he didn't have anyone warming up, because Ambriz is such a shut-down guy.

Ambriz pulled for Blackley, who come in and gets the DP to end B8.  A tad too late though, as the damage had been done...

End 8: HOU 0, KC 2

As nice as it felt to sweep a good team, it sure does bring it all into perspective to be swept by one that isn't very good.

Hosmer goes first to third on a single to left. Carter is a real liability in left, and good for Hosmer to recognize that.

It is one thing to lose 0-2.  Its quite another to lose 0-2 with a bunch of horseshit efforts contributing to other teams 2 runs. Pisses me off...

90 Ks. June 9.

And with that, its ballgame (and another loss).  Astros swept on the 0-2 loss.

Hosmer goes first to third on a single to left.

Wait, what? I haven't seen that since Biggio was playing out there.

Putting Ambush in at that point with Harrell in cruise control was asinine. Way to over think, Porter.

Absolutely. He should've been jerked from the field for that one. Embarrassing.
Good arguments could be made that the pitcher, left fielder, shortstop, catcher and centerfielder all should have been jerked from the field in that inning. But that would've been awkward.

You captured my sentiments on Porter. I'm having my doubts about him now. He's another incessant lineup tinkerer and makes statements to the effect of "this is our lineup" and that lasts about 5-7 games.

IMO, it is hard to see a more glaring display of "I don't give a shit" than Ambriz "back up" at home.  Carter tries to hold that distinction, but Ambriz is holding it at the moment.

I generally like Porter, but that coddling attitude, and the strained logic to support it is maddening.

After reading the recap, I'd be super pissed if I was Jeff Luhnow.  How can he showcase Harrell/Norris, etc. if Porter pulls them before they get a loss. Or how can he truly evaluate the player if they aren't give the opportunity for success?

I'm with you.  Of course he's tinkering with the lineup.  Making chicken shit into chicken salad is not an easy job, and requires experimentation.

I understand it when you're dealing with the rehabilitation of someone like Lyles, but Harrell isn't facing the same challenges. I don't think that approach is one-size-fits-all. And why pitch to Gordon, why not have a lefthander ready? He's shown he'll throw the whole bullpen at a game, what made him decide differently yesterday?

I didn't think anything about it particularly.  He was going to take him out reasonably soon, it was a good time to do it, and Armbriz hasn't been so bad that he has to manage for an exploding bullpen.  Of course actual results may vary.

And it appears that the issue of Harrell's confidence is a judgment of yours. Porter's done this with the broken and inexperienced pitchers and he's been successful - Lyles, Keuchel, Bedard - and since he was quoted yesterday that this was his motivation in taking Harrell out I feel pretty comfortable that he's applying it to the starters as a group. This doesn't address why he let Ambriz pitch to the lefthanders and didn't have a lefty ready to go, since he'd already prestidigitated that Harrell would give up a couple of hits in the next sixteen pitches.

You're not doing that. I also understand why Porter made the move. I just questioned it since Harrell was in cruise control and could have gone another frame.
