I've never been prouder of Josh Hamilton
« on: February 18, 2013, 04:40:29 pm »
He claims that Rangers fans aren't real baseball fans.  I think the "antler-waving, bandwagon-riding, DH-loving dipshits" was implied.

First Aikman calls out Dallas fans and now Hamilton.  :)  Classic.

Most of them took a sip of their martini with the pinky finger pointed out and said "Josh who?"

They don't drink martinis in Dallas.  They drink rum and cokes, and don't call them Cuba Libres because that's foreign.

I live in the Dallas area and I'm no Ranger fan nor a fan of Ranger fans. But Hamilton is a fucking idiot.  These were the best years of his baseball life and he was not a one-man band. Truth is, the Rangers will probably do all too well without him. And the Angels would have been pretty damn  good without him. He's not entirely wrong in his assessment but how many truly great "baseball towns" are there?  Is Houston one? Is Anaheim one? Does the check still cash if it's not written in a "baseball town"? Josh Hamilton should just shut the fuck up. The good baseball fans I know in this area are glad he's gone and were so before he showed his ass with these quotes. It's the bandwagoners that wish he was still here. And they will be the first ones to boo when he's in town.

When any player criticizes his former teammates, city, fans, whathaveyou, it typically ends badly. I agree, he should just shut the fuck up. If someone sticks a microphone in front of him and demands a quote, he should say something to the effect of "had a lot of great years there...great organization...still a lot of friends there...did my best...but now I'm in Anaheim and going to do my best to help this club". You know...more Brad Lidge and less Billy Wagner.

I know this is about slamming Dallas but Hamilton should spend the rest of his career with his mouth shut and his head down for the royal fucking over he gave the Rays. He's a drink away from being out of baseball.

I'm not one to hold a grudge. We all appreciate a second chance. Opportunity for redemption is an American value. We embrace it as a society, and its one of the things that makes us great. But you don't shit on the people who made it possible for you.
