I come in from work, I expect to turn on the game and turn on the game zone and nothing.  It's un-American.  I'm going to have to go to Chik-Fil-A for dinner, or something.

No need. I hope you get to hear tonight's the night, amongst others.

Basically, everyone has seen it before: one misplay early in the inning and the pitcher unravels.  Quickly, the game is basically over. 4-1 Nats in the 5th.

I liked their EP initially, but never really went back to it very often.  NPR is plugging them BIG time.  Haven't heard their new one, but I expect it's more of the same.

Werth is a good match for the team, he's just been injured too much.

Werth is a good match for the team, he's just been injured too much.

He hit .230 last year with 58 RBIs in 150 games played and is still owed roughly the annual GDp of Eritrea.  And he's already 33 years old.

He's played much better this year, they don't have a lot of options in outfield besides Harper and Eritrea is pretty poor.

If you project out his 2012 numbers for 155 games, his home run and RBI totals would be 15 and 65, respectively. Werth is still owed 110mm or so.

OK, honest question here about that play (which we should never speak of again after tonight): was that Lopez's ball or Pearce's ball? (I know it sure as hell wasn't Downs', who looked like he was trying to tackle both of them).

I don't know. If it had been a pop up, the pitcher would have held back. I don't know about a bunt.

I like the pitcher there because he doesn't have to turn as much to evaluate the play and make the throw if warranted.

I don't know how the pitcher backs off that play.

That sounds right to me.

Can they start sending dudes down to A ball when they commit game losing errors? This shit is getting old.

fuck-a-duck. Astros leave the tying run on 2nd. I'd like a post-game interviewer to ask Marwin just what the hell he was thinking in that AB in the 9th.

Maybe ask pearce about that bunt play in the 11th, too.

Of course, this being Houston, they probably won't.

Levine with this gem on twitter after the bunt play:

I really have nothing to say about the Astros-Nats game. And I watched a lot of Three Stooges as a kid, so I should know all the references.

Pearce didn't do anything wrong except for throw the ball away. He charged hard and tried to make a play. If Downs doesn't jump on him, I suspect the throw to first wouldn't have been the crazy wild nonsense it was.

Really, the pitcher should've called everyone off immediately off the bat and taken charge, fielded it on a hop, and gotten the out at first.

Also, Bogie's throw from shallow right was pretty horrible. He had a shot at the runner if he'dve just put it somewhere that Snyder could catch the ball instead of overthrowing him by 10 feet.

I just watched the replay of the bunt.  Any other team, I'd be laughing my ass off...but I don't think any other team is capable of doing that.
Don't think twice, it's alright.

Once I saw Bogusevic field the errant throw and realized where he was on the field I was shocked that Bernadina was being sent home; I was certain that Brian was going to throw him out by six feet.

We are still required to put 9 men on the field - so no.
