Yes, it is good to see that apologetic tweets aren't enough.

The whole Dominguez thing is still confusing to me.  I'm running scenarios of what they might be thinking, but none really resonate.  I guess the explanation that they want the coaches to see him is the actual explanation, but they have coaches, scouts and assistants who could easily see him play in AAA and report back.

Something still seems odd about this.

Maybe they are trying to trade Johnson and if you send him down no one is going to want him.

Maybe the club is trying to demonstrate CJ's positional versatility (he can't be any worse at 1B than he is at 3B) and need to play him there to show it off and don't have enough confidence in Bixler, Moore and Downsie (sounds like a fucking law firm) even in the short term. I still think that this is real short term and that Dominguez and Wallace will trade places right after the ASB. I'll be shocked if that isn't the plan.  Nevertheless, it'll be nice to see someone who can really play 3B again. It's been awhile since we've seen that.

Yeah, that was one of the scenarios, but I figured they could do all that without bringing up Dominguez.  I was also thinking they they wanted to showcase CJ at first for an eventual trade, but still, you wouldn't need Dominguez up to do that.

Another possibility I contemplated is that Schafer is really in the doghouse, either getting-sent-down-doghouse, traded-doghouse or just sort of benched-for-a-long-time-doghouse and they knew only Bogey could play center in that scenario, and felt Dominguez was somehow needed for third since CJ would be at first and they didn't want Downs or Bixler there.  As you can guess, this is a convoluted theory with numerous holes, and doesn't make much sense.

I was also wondering if CJ can't play third due to his health, why not bring Wallace up and let him man third until CJ is healthy enough, at which point they would switch.  That didn't happen.

Anyways, I'm rambling and nothing makes real sense.  It is probably obvious and I am just too dense to see the obvious.  Hope the kid gets some nice chances at third to showcase his glove, and have some good ABs to give everyone some hope.

Someone has to hit there. The club doesn't have a real three or four for that matter. They could have put Lowrie or Altuve in the three (or Altuve in the three and Lowrie, who has the HR pop, in the four), but then you really don't have a good leadoff and two option since Bogusevic is probably best of the rest (and that's not saying a whole lot). I've got no problem with Moore, who's been swinging a hot bat of late, hitting third.

You're not rambling; we're all brainstorming for answers. However, I don't think that CJ has any trade value whatsoever. He's ours until we drop him. He's an awful 3B. As for Schreefer, it seems as it he is indeed in the doghouse since he's not playing today against a right-handed pitcher, which he's hit not well but certainly much better than left-handers. However, they clearly have to keep him around because Bogusevic is your only real other option in CF with Maxwell on the DL, and that's not a real good option either in my opinion. However, I wouldn't put it past the club to either unload Schreefer in one of those "you send us one of your bad ones and we'll send you one of ours" deals or send him down.

I understand. But Moore hitting third today is exactly what "your Astros" means this season.

Anything that keeps me from having to witness his post-strikeout histrionics is a welcome change.

One thing with Dominguez is he was suppose to develop better than he has.  Can't hurt for the big league coaches to get a first hand look before sending him to AAA to figure things out.

As far as Shreefer is concerned, Maxwell is skipping surgery and will be back shortly after the break.  Schreefer maybe on borrowed time.  Barnes wouldn't be a bad option either if Schreefer has options

Since this is only his third year of big league time, they sent Happ out last year in what I think was his fourth year of some time with the parent club, so I don't see why they couldn't send Schreefer out.

Norris had the guy picked off if CJ catches that ball, which he should have done. Hopefully, he'll be better nexttime. Meanwhile, Superman strikes out and Walker is thrown out trying to steal to end the inning. 0-0 Tpo 2

Absolutely. But they've got Ryan Theriot, who's been playing as well as Sanchez would have.

He has been, and he's done a solid job out there, but the one out of five hitting won't keep him out there. Even Schreefer is hitting more than Bogusevic.

Myers on to toss. CJ makes the play at 1B. One out to Superman, who is hitless tonight.

2-0 Top 9 as Myers get them up and down in order. The club isn't helping me with my recap tonight. Let's do something now!!!

Yep, if only...This club stinks on ice right now. Dominguez doesn't look ready for big league pitching to me.

BG, I'll treat your question as a rhetorical one, but what I will say is we're not seeing the ball well right now at all. The pitch identification work has been horrible. If you can't pick up the pitch, you've got no shot. None.

On the bright side, back-to-back #1 picks is looking more and more likely.

Nothing inflammatory, just some things that I found inappropriate. They talked about how he was overpaid for his production, that you don't give that kind of contract to anyone but an 'elite' player. (They then listed some 'elite' players who in their eyes deserve such a contract; their list included Berkman.)

It was just fucking unseemly for two guys paid by the team to be professional broadcasters rather than professional navel gazers. We've got that covered over here, thank you.

Although I wasn't offended by the comments that they made and didn't really find them inappropriate, I thought that it might have just a little too much candor from two team employees on air.

JD's comments were especially surprising given how circumspect and diplomatic he usually is. He called Carlos a liability in LF over the past three years. The whole exchange was totally out of character for those two and I found it terribly disappointing. They are basically the only reason I still watch this disgrace to the game most every day and if they're going to descend into the fecal swamp of the Chronicle's comments then what the fuck do I have left? I'll admit to a perverse thrill in watching the team flirt with .500 only to kamikaze their way to what will surely be the worst record in baseball, again. But how many snuff films can a sociopath watch?

Since this is only his third year of big league time, they sent Happ out last year in what I think was his fourth year of some time with the parent club, so I don't see why they couldn't send Schreefer out.

No idea if this is accurate but:

He is probably right. But getting rid of schreefer isn't as far fetched as it was five weeks ago.
