He's waiting for "the right contract." the first contender to lose a starter to injury
He has broken down the last few years so he decided to try sit the first part of this season out, then come back. He is hoping the rest will help him down the stretch.
Wait a minute. He was only going to pitch 10 years anyway. I think it's been ten years. That's what he said, remember. Ten years.
Ho hum. I guess this means that Neftali Feliz will go back to the bully when Dozer finally gets in shape and up with the Rangers. That's all it means to me.
That bullpen becomes scarier than the Wagner-Dotel-Lidge pen of old.
To sign with Nolan evidently... UGH! LINKThe Rangers have agreed to sign Roy Oswalt, Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports. The free agent right-hander sought a Major League deal in the $5-7.5MM range and appeared to prefer the Rangers to his other suitors.
If he wasn't dead to me before, he is now.
+1 And he's a whiny, pissy little dead guy. I hope that he lays a big fat egg on the Rangers.
What's his record been at The Launching Pad in Arlington?
This is all about him chasing a ring. He doesn't offend me, so I doubt I'm going to care if he actually gets one. I would be surprised if his back lets him make it though the rest of the year though.
Roger Clemens did it for the Astros, seems a logical thing for Sparky to do as well.
+1Seems to me Sparky knows he's only good for an extended period of time with that back. Going a full 162+ games is no longer his forte. But he's a very good gunhand to hire if you're going to make a run at a ring. Roger Clemens did it for the Astros, seems a logical thing for Sparky to do as well.
I guess it is okay if you can get away with it. If I was a teammate, I'd be muttering things like "oh, you're special and too good to go to spring training?"
The other thought process from teammates might be "i wonder if I can get away with that next year".
Of course, some players actually like Spring Training, especially the young ones, if not for the girls, for the extra money.
Every pro player I've ever known, and that's quite a few, have almost to a man liked and looked forward to ST for many reasons, but girls and money are at the top of it.
never bothered to drop the rr express email ...headline oswalt to start saturday for express
That's why they play ball in the first place, right?
I was there on Saturday and got his autograph on a ball for my son. He was like a robot signing autographs for the fans. No interaction at all. I asked him how his bulldozer was and that got the smallest of acknowledgements, but otherwise he was completely laconic and crusty.
He never really oozed with personality.
