Tough go for the Astros against Greinke tonight. Hopefully, he will throw the way that he did in his second start, when he got torched.

After getting Weeks 6-3, Harrell works the count full against Aoki before walking him. Now for the Peen.

Fuck, Castro. If the pitcher can't throw an 0-2 ball in the dirt, you're taking away a huge weapon. And that costs us a run, as Peen singles to CF.

The Astros have a serious shift on for Hart. I bet Lee couldn't make it to 1B had Hart hit the ball on the ground, but he hit a bullet to RF that Bogusevic flagged down, driving home Errormiss. 3-1 Top 2

JD and Brownie are trying to play it down by saying that Millsie said that they haven't worked Castro hard on blocking balls in the dirt because of his knee injury. I'm telling you that the pitchers are talking about it, and it is a huge issue for them.

Keep telling yourself that. As a former pitcher, I'd be grousing a lot about it. I had to have that split-finger in the dirt ahead in the count.

Other than moving him to three, which is what I'd do (Martinez to cleanup and Lee to the five), where else could he hit other than second. I prefer Lowrie in the two. And Schafer is really doing well in the one.

Maybe 7 to move some base runners? I dunno but it seems like he gets on and then gets stranded hitting 8th.

Greinke does his opponent a favor and grounds into the old 4-6-3.  Two down for Weeks. Don't fuck up here. Rickey Weeks was the best college hitter that I ever saw play. He was unreal at Southern (in Baton Rouge).

Maybe so, but Weeks hit something like .480 almost every year. And he played against LSU pitching at least twice a year.

They tend to be a little beefy.

Beefy is the least of your worries with that bunch. I'm sure I've told this story before but a cousin of mine and I went up to Green Bay to see the Texans four years ago. (A trip to Lambeau is one I would recommend highly to any fan of the NFL.) The night before the game we went to the Stadium View Bar to watch some college games. The place was packed. PACKED. A lot of Texans fans had made the trip and quite a number had found their way to the bar. There was literally not a single woman I would have anything to do with in there. As I've mentioned my tastes are, erm, rather broad. Anyway, it was remarkable. I made my way to the men's room and as I'm standing there at the urinal a fellow settles in next to me. Suddenly he exclaims in a thick Texas accent THESE ARE THE UGLIEST WOMEN I HAVE EVER SEEN... IN MY LIFE!

I was laughing so fucking hard as I stumbled out of the restroom it took me five minutes to settle down enough to relate what had happened.

I'd rather see CJ off the bench.  It's becoming more clear his future in the bigs is likely a bat off the bench or a platoon player

I still think that the club sees Paredes as a 3B option. I think that they were hedging their bets on Altuve, who displayed a hole in his game last year, i.e., the inability to law off of the first pitch.

I'm not so sure. I think Paredes is flat out better than CJ and has a much higher ceiling besides. If the club agreed they would have Paredes playing third now. Instead they moved him to second and rounded up anyone and everyone who looked like a third baseman and tried them over there in the spring.

You may be right. I think that they got bushwhacked by CJ's good spring, together with the fact that Paredes was sick or hurt during part of ST and Paredes' age. I think that they still see Paredes as big league material.

Weeks fouls out to Lee on a great play by Lee, who followed it up with an awesome throw to nail Gamel, who should be fined for a football tackle. He had his arms up and threw them into him. But whatever gets you through the night. We got away with only one run scoring. 6-2 Gamel has a dot coming in my book the next time he comes up. Gamel has to be fined for that.

That's a 15 harder in the NFL.  What a play by the stros.  Lyon needs to buy Castro a Thai massage back at the hotel.

We went though this earlier in the game. You do NOT want a massage, Thai or otherwise, in Milwaukee.

Fighting over that last cheese curd will toughen you up, no doubt. Any Thai massage I've ever had involved me getting contorted unimaginably and traipsed upon by some 90 pound twig. Not many 90 pound twigs in Milwaukee.

Lee is a serviceable 1B. I like Altuve at 2B. Lowrie is adequate to decent at SS. We have a big hole at 3B. JD is playing okay in LF. I like Schreefer in CF. Bogusevic is a work in progress in RF. Castro is another black hole to me.  So, we're not terrible this season, but we're not good.

Three out of eight every day starters would not start on any other team. They might not MAKE any other team.

At least two, maybe three, maybe four more would not start on any average team.

The glass is partially full and you only see drops.  There are plenty of marginal rosters in the major leagues. This team probably won't even be in the bottom five; it is not some historically bad club.
