Anyone know why you would paint a barn black?

The only scientific reason I can think of is if it is a cold winter climate and you want to maximize radiant heat during the winter on a sunny day.

Are you iin Pennsylvania yet?  Look for the Dutch hex signs painted on the sides of the barns.  Pretty interesting.

Its probably a building they needs extra warmth, like a place to dry tobacco. Or a smokehouse where they don't want to have to paint over the smoke stains constantly.
