Same lineup as yesterday for the Stros. The Mets... who cares?

Reyes popped out, Turner grounded out, Wright walked and stole 2nd, Bay walked, Paulino flied out to Bourn.

The Mets radio guys (yes, I've chosen to listen to the fuckin' Mets announcers instead of Milo and DorkRay- I'm blacked out on mlb.tv) said that Q would've thrown out Wright, but he threw from his knees and the throw bounced. It seems Q has been throwing from his knees a lot more this year. And it seems like he's caught a lot fewer guys too. Thoughts?

By the way, Bourn just hit a leadoff triple. I can't really do PBP, though. Got to get some shit done. ANybody else here?

I'm here, but I can't do PBP because I'm going to be in and out. And Q *did* throw Wright out, but it was close.

Barmes RBI 6-3, Pence IF single to 2B, Lee line drive to CF for his 2,000th career hit. Crowd approves. 1st and 2nd, 1 out for Wallace.

Mets radio guys say that the Mets TV cameras last night caught Mills and Clark having "what looked like a heated exchange" during the game following the two runners getting thrown out at home.

Say that Mills won't talk about it today when asked.

4-0 Astros, top 2. Batted around in the 1st.

Did you know? Michael Bourn majored in broadcasting at UH.

Bourn grounds out on a diving play by Wright. NYM radio guys thought Bourn beat it at first, but said replay showed he was out.

I'm feeling like I'm contributing to the Astros success here by doing yard work. Not sure I have enough weeds to pull for all nine innings, though.

Stuck in the office, so any description of the action would be appreciated.  No need for formal pbp, if nobody can do it.

Roof open. Wide shot looks like God's country.

It's 4-1 Good Guys, bottom of the third, Lee leading off.

Forgot it's Saturday, even though JD is violating the rules.

Wally hits one back up the middle that Dickey deflects to Reyes and it's another 6-3 out. Two down.

Baggy reports on OKC. He doesn't think there is an everyday player down there right now but things can change in a heartbeat. He likes Barnes in CF and says that Lyles needs more time.

Hally pops out to shallow right to end the 3rd, Astros up 4-1.

That's pretty much his style, work up and away, down and away so he can sneak in the fastball.

He didn't sneak that one by Murphy though, that FB was lined into the seats in right and it's 4-2.

Dickey Ks, three down.

I love Bagwell in the booth. Good-natured laughter about losing your place in the game, saying that Votto started to throw the ball around after two outs the other night, when Houston had runners on.

Wow. May 14, 1976, the Astrodome crowd won free beer because Mike Schmidt struck out in the fifth inning. What a promotional idea.

Whoever these Mets radio guys are, they're fine at describing the action (unlike Milo/DoRay), but sadly they're not above some careless, heavy-handed insinuations about Bagwell: "I saw him at the park today, and I barely recognized him! Looks like somebody stuck a pin in him, duhuhuhhuh. He's a lot smaller than in his playing days. I mean, I'm not saying anything, but..." "Oh, I think I know what you're saying, duhuhhuhhuh...". JD: "Birds fly, fish swim, Happ hits."

This reminds me of a funny story about my kid who is now a junior in high school. They had testing before they enter kindergarten to see if they are ready.  So the teacher asks him to finish this statement, "Birds fly, fish _______."

My son looked at her and got real excited. He quickly responded "jump up out of the water, grabs by worm, and I reel him in."

The teacher looked at me and said, "That is the very best response I have ever had.  He was descriptive.  But it is wrong."

So much for smart teachers.

It's bad enough that the team isn't playing well, but those of us who watch a lot of games are further rewarded by the same awful commercials, over and over and over...

My biggest annoyance thusfar has been Patty Smith talking about Bagwell doing the scene of Rocky running up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art prior to the All Star game in PHI, but inexplicably not showing us any clips, photos, etc.  Seriously, how can you tell that story and not have anything to show us?!?!?  I'm perturbed...
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

So, B8 up by 5. Bourn on 1B. Against the 'unwritten rules' to steal here to get into scoring position?  And before you answer, remember, this is the Astros bullpen we're talking about...  I say steal away!

I've seen FoxTrax look way, way off before. I still haven't seen some proof that what they're showing us is the real deal and not just some yokel punching a button.

Hadn't seen it noted here, but Verlander took another no-hitter into the 6th inning last night until it was broken up. 14 straight innings of no-hit ball is pretty darned impressive!

Nice to see Lee, Wallace, and CJ have good games with the bat. Hall I could give a fuck about, I'd much rather see Keppinger, Downs, Sanchez, or Bourgeois (if he can actually field the position) there at this point, occasional HR from Hall be damned.

Hall being interviewed by Mets radio team now.
