This was all news to me.

The storm was bad here for exactly 3 minutes.   I got home, it wasn't raining.  Our food showed up, it started raining.   Lightning hit a building 12 blocks from us.  It stopped raining.   That's it.

If no one told me about the tornadoes in BKLYN (even god agrees with me), I'd have had no idea it was anything more than a weird 3 minute t-storm.

In short -- nothing was altered in my otherwise perfect life.

I have to say, I still don't get why this is riotously funny.   I'm the only person on this site that actually wants to enjoy the sex and not just have the sex?

I want to enjoy the sex that I'm having at some Barbie.

No, you are not the only one. That said, I'm not sure how or why you expect a grown-up response.

Who cares about bridge and tornado peons, anyways?

You must have really thick walls and windows.  The storm rolled in at 95mph, spawned two tornados and, more significantly, a rare macroburst that pushed through at 125mph, exceeding the rotational speed of both tornados.

For those geeky enough to read along, here's the Upton storm report:
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/okx/StormEvents/storm09162010.html

Here's a decent video capture of the macroburst rolling thru Brooklyn.  Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that is real-time speed.  It's not sped up:

And, here is the radar loop.  Watch as the line of heavier storms collapses right as it nears Manhattan.  That's a classic signature for a micro or macroburst.

That's crazy.

Brief side-tangent: I freaking hate it when websites insert their ads in the middle of the page.  I'm reading along with this article, and it goes...

At least two people were trapped in cars that were crushed by trees in Brooklyn and Queens.

Downed trees on Long Island Rail Road tracks caused a system shutdown, while fallen trees also caused subway problems for above-ground train lines.

I'm tellin' you, man.  I was here for the storm.  It was fierce, we even noted how strong it seemed, but it was over in 3 minutes and left zero damage by my apt.   It looks like most of the shit was in BK and Queens.   I walk to and from work along Central Park West and saw literally no damage the next morning.   Our walls ARE thick (1930s brick and plaster and bodies) but our windows are for shit (1930s non-safety glass and lead).   Seriously, it just felt like a nasty-but-not-killer t-storm.
